Chapter 2394
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
As Ross seldom behaved like this, Yasmin stared at him, not knowing how to react.
âMom, I know youâre scared too. Youâre scared of aging and death, and youâre worried because there are many things you havenât finished yet. I know you want to continue the experiment not just to live forever but because you have many things you want to do for the country.â
Yasmin fought back her tears upon hearing this.
âI know youâve been exhausted all these years. Whenever I get home late and walk past your room, I can hear you pacing around inside. Youâve shouldered everything, and I wish to share your burden, butâ¦â
Ross did not continue. Although he meant well, he did not want his mother to think he wanted her power. The truth was that he just did not want her to tire herself out at her age.
âYou shouldnât bend over backward so much,â Ross thoughtfully spoke as he patted the back of Yasminâs hand, âYouâve worked so hard for so many years. Are you going to carry on forever?âBooks Chapters Are Daily Updated Join & Stay Updated For All Books Updatesâ¦
Yasmin hesitated for a long while before saying huskily, âRoss, do youâ¦want the throne?â
She stared at her son profoundly. She had wondered about it for a very long time but had never voiced it out. Now, she could not help but ask him that.
Ross did not avoid the questionâinstead, he looked into her eyes and nodded. âI did. Iâd be lying if I said I didnât. I wanted to be king since the day I was old enough to enter politics, but Iâve changed my mind.â
He earnestly smiled as he spoke. Even so, Yasmin was still skeptical. âReally?â
âOf course,â Ross continued, âIâm your son and second only to you in Yudonia. It doesnât matter much whether Iâm a prince or a king. Besides, youâve run the country exceptionally well.â
He gently held her hand and said with a half-smile, âThe country has developed well over these years. I think it doesnât matter who the ruler is as long as it will be good for the country and people.â
Yasmin grew emotional and nodded sharply. She was overwhelmed with a mix of feelings, not expecting her son to say such things to her. âRoss, I..â
âItâs okay, Mom. I understand. Regardless of what the rumors say about you, youâre my mom, and I know what kind of person you are,â Ross slowly continued, âYou should also know what kind of person I am.
âIf you think you can cope, then you should continue ruling the country. However, I hope youâll reconsider the experiment.â
Yasminâs smile froze.
