Chapter 2409
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
âDo you think I need your protection?â Dominic knocked Austinâs head and said bluntly, âMore like youâre going to mess things up for me.â
âHey! Uncle Dom, Iââ
Dominic interrupted, âWhat will you do while I hypnotize the old gal? Sing her a lullaby? Do you think I can hypnotize her with you hanging around?â
Austin was stumped.
âIâm going to hypnotize her, not move furniture. I donât need you.â Dominic then turned to Alexander.
âGive me two days to prepare. I need to return to my estate to take care of something.â
Alexander nodded. âOkay. If you need anything, just let me know.â
With that, the group concluded their meeting. Although it was only two days, the wait was distressing enough. For them, each day delayed was unbearable.
Meanwhile, Rhea and Lily put their best efforts into their experiments as if competing against each other.
Yasmin had never visited the laboratory, not even once. It was as if she had forgotten about the place.
All she did was bask in the sun and feel the wind on the balcony as if enjoying her retirement.
The sunlight was lovely today as the queen wheeled herself to the airy spot on the balcony. She tilted her head back and narrowed her eyes, listening to the birds chirping.
Rick approached from behind and placed a thin blanket over her, saying, âItâs pretty windy out here, Your Majesty.â His simple gesture showed he cared for her. When he leaned over to adjust the blanket, Yasmin said, âYouâre blocking the sun.â
Rick quickly straightened up and moved aside while Yasmin enjoyed the sunâs warmth. Rick could only stand aside in silence.
Yasmin remained quiet for a long while, seeming to have fallen asleep until the sound of a car engine echoed from downstairs. She opened her eyes slightly and glanced downstairs, probably disturbed by the noise.
Her position offered the view of the gate, but since she was in a wheelchair, she could see nothing. She grunted and moved her body, saying, âHow long was I asleep?â
âNot long, Your Majesty,â Rick answered gently, âOnly about an hour.â
âAn hour, huh? I felt like I slept for a long time. That was a good nap.â Feeling slightly numb, she stretched her neck and looked over her shoulder at Rick. âItâd be wonderful if I could sleep that well every day,â she said thoughtfully.
As she got old, she realized having proper sleep had become a luxury.
Rick was not good with words, unlike Fred. Hence, the former remained silent. If Fred were around, he would surely try to flatter Yasmin and tell her she was still young. However, Rick simply continued guarding her.
