Chapter 426
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
âTell us! What did you buy?â
âThatâs a big piece of furniture!â
Many colleagues gathered around curiously, and some even leaned in to look inside. However, the box was so tightly sealed that all they saw were wooden boards.
âI didnât buy it!â Lily shook her head and put one hand on the wooden box. âDid the security say anything else about who had sent it?â.
Her colleagues all shook their heads and said that they did not know.
Tapping her fingers on the wooden frame, Lily not only wondered who sent it but also how to open it.
Who knew what was inside this enormous box?
Could it be that she had been in the limelight too much recently and someone sent her something to retaliate? When this thought flashed through her mind, she abruptly pulled her hand back as if she was afraid something inside the box would bite her.
âWow, this box is huge!â Olivia rushed over with pancakes in her hands. âWhatâs inside?â
Lily looked at her and casually said, âA bomb!â
Olivia instantly jumped back. Fortunately, she did not toss the pancake in her hands. Then, with widened eyes, she asked, âReally?!â
âOf course not. Itâs a joke. How could we stay here if itâs real?â
One of the colleagues next to her laughed. âWe have no idea whatâs inside. Weâre all very curious! Lily, if you didnât buy it, it must be from a guy! Could it be your boyfriend?â
Lily suddenly thought it made sense in the face of their joking remarks. Could it be that Alexander sent this to her?
She took out her phone and looked for a quiet corner to make a call. After a few rings, Alexander picked up, and his magnetic voice managed to ease her worries. âYou just left this morning, and youâve missed me already?â
âIs that why you sent me a gift?â Lily asked.
Alexander was stunned. âGift? What gift? Are you asking me to buy you something?â
âDidnât you send one?â Lily was even more surprised when she heard the tone of his voice.â Then, it must not be him who sent it.â
âHuh? Did someone give you something? What is it? Flowers? Or is it... balloons?â Alexander was particularly sensitive to âballoonsâ after what happened last time.
âNo, no, itâs none of those. I was just asking around. Forget it!â
Just as she was about to hang up, his impatient voice rang through the phone. âWhat do you mean forget it? For you to call me and ask about this, it must be a big gift that you like very much. What is it?
Do you not know who gave it to you?â
âI donât know who gave it or whatâs in it. How would I know if I like it or not?â She sighed. âItâs a big wooden box thatâs sealed shut. I canât see whatâs inside.â
Hearing this, Alexander kept quiet and pondered for a moment before saying, âThen, donât open it first.
Get someone to move it to an open space before you try and open it.â
Lily laughed. âYou donât think thereâs a bomb in there, do you? Donât worry. If it were a bomb, it wouldâve exploded by now. I didnât hear any sound from inside either.â
âWhatever it is, you should still be careful.â
