Chapter 58
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
The lawyer did not expect Lily to choose the impossible option without hesitation. He was stunned for a moment before immediately adding, âMs. Christian. I donât think you heard me correctly. You may be underestimating the severity and impact on your future. It wonât be just a simple apology if you lose the case. Youâll have to pay a huge compensation and may face jail time. Therefore, I advise you to think clearly because Mr. Hall only asks for an apology...â
âTell Nathaniel to stop daydreaming, or he might turn into an id*ot!â Lily interrupted the lawyer. âYou said this is if I lose, but I donât believe I will. See you in court!â
Lily hung up after saying her piece. How ridiculous! Was Nathaniel so sure he could bring her down with just those materials and soâcalled witnesses?
She remained in the shadows for so long because she willingly became the stepping stone for him to climb higher. Now that she would stand up for herself, she vowed never to be that pathetic self again.
Lily drove straight home, and unexpectedly, Alexander was already there. She thought he would be at the company right now.
It was apparent that Alexander had just returned home. He had taken off his suit and tie but was still wearing his work shirt with the top button undone, exposing his sexy Adamâs apple. Alexander had laid on the sofa, tablet in hand, and was looking at the screen with a frown.
âHow come youâre back so early today?â Lily bent down to change her shoes at the entrance and slid into her house slippers. âHave you had dinner? Iâll cook something.â
She wanted to go straight to the kitchen, but Alexander reached out and stopped her. âNot right now.
Come here.â
Lily turned her head and glanced at him. She had already rolled up her sleeves, but, seeing his unhappy face, she walked back to him. âWhatâs the matter? Did the company run into a problem?â
âHow could I have a problem that I couldnât solve?â Alexander glanced at her, expressing his dissatisfaction with her question.
Although he had encountered various problems since he took over the La Beauté Group, they were nothing he could not resolve. Solvable issues were not a concern. He had the capital, confidence, and pride to say this. Lily pursed her lips and chuckled. She sat down next to him and wrapped her arms around his neck âYes, thatâs right. My boss is the greatest! Nothing can defeat you!â She said playfully.
The distance between them was so close, and looking at her beautiful smile, Alexanderâs eyes darkened.
He approached closer, almost touching her lips. âReally? How... great?â Alexanderâs breath on Lilyâs face made her blush immediately. âHâHow would I know?â Lily tried to push him away.
âYou donât know? How could you not know when you call me great? Do you want me to prove it to you?â
There was no reason to refuse when she was the one who fell into his arms.
Alexander hugged her waist and held her firmly in his arms, âIs your inconvenience over?â
Lily wished she could hide in a blanket, hearing his obvious hint. It was still daytime. She did not know where to look.
âNânot yet.â She actually stuttered!
When she heard his soft sigh, Lilyâs face grew even warmer. âWhat were you looking at?â
âJust some boring stuff,â Alexander responded idly and attempted to put his tablet away, but Lily had already read the words on the screen.
