Chapter 75
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
âEssential oil?â Nathaniel paused for a moment. âDidnât we send some stock over this morning? Are those not enough?â
âMr. Hall, that batch of essential oilâs quality is subpar, so we canât use it!â
âSubpar? We got it directly from the lab. Youâre telling me that we canât use it now?â Anxiously, Nathaniel walked back and forth in the living room. âWas it a mistake on your side, and youâre trying to push the blame on us now?â âWe would never do that. There has been an increase in orders, so my workers are all working overnight to complete the job. We adhered to the process closely and completed our factory assembly line work Itâs unlikely for us to be the problem here. Why donât you come over and see for yourself?â
The factoryâs manager was helpless in this situation too. After all, something went wrong and affected the orderâs completion time, which would delay production and bring dire consequences. âOkay, Iâll be right there.â After hanging up the phone, Nathaniel immediately got dressed. Melanie exited the room in her pajamas, rubbing her eyes as she asked, âWhere are you going in the middle of the night? Who was that on the phone?â He threw her a glance, and something seemed to hit him âGet changed.
Youâre coming with me. Hurry up!â
âMe?â She pointed at herself; her drowsiness gone in an instant. Confused, she asked, âWhere are we going?â âThe factory! Thereâs something wrong with the essential oil!â
No matter how reluctant Melanie was, Nathaniel still managed to drag her with him to the factory in the end. The factory was bright, and the factoryâs manager immediately greeted them as soon as he saw them. âMr. Hall, youâre finally here. Come and have a look!â
There was a box of essential oil in the corner, so Nathaniel bent down and removed a bottle from it.
Frowning, he put the bottle closer to his nose and took a whiff. âIt smells fine!â
The manager said nothing but went ahead and took a finished product for Nathaniel. *Try this.
The strong scent made him cough. Covering his nose, he asked, âWhy is the smell so choking? Did something go wrong during its dilution?â
âEverything is automated now, and Iâve checked it thoroughly. Thereâs no problem on my end. From my experience, I would say that the problem lies within the essential oil, which is why thereâs a huge difference in the end products. Mr. Hall, can I ask if your lab produces this batch of essential oil?â
Nathaniel glanced at Melanie in the face of the managerâs doubts.
Melanie was watching them from the side, so when Nathaniel glanced at her, she asked innocently, âWhat? We produced it based on the formula we used last time. Even if thereâs a problem, itâs because of the formula and not because of me.â
Her words made both the factoryâs manager and Nathaniel speechless. Suddenly, she realized there was a problem with what she blurted earlier when the two stared at her. To everyone else, she was the one who created the formula. When there was a problem with the formula, that should be her problem, too, right?
