Chapter 78
Spoiled by Mr. Russell
Olivia looked at Nathaniel and then at her watch, âiâm not late. Itâs still early!â
âThe company had notified all staff members to gather in the laboratory immediately. Where have you been?â Nathaniel asked with a livid face and stern tone. âI was sleeping at home, âOlivia said assertively. âWhat notice are you talking about? I didnât see any. Also, I donât read work notifications during nonâworking hours.â
âHow dare you talk back when youâre at fault? Everyone is working hard for the company What about you? Do you think I wonât reprimand you because youâre a senior staff member? It seems like Lily has... â Nathaniel abruptly stopped speaking as if Lilyâs name was taboo in the company âForget it. Go and check on the essential oils in the laboratory. See if there is any difference compared to before. If you do it well, I wonât hold you accountable for being late.â
After some thought, Nathaniel felt that only Olivia would know the reason behind this matter apart from Lily, Olivia had always been Lilyâs assistant, after all. From composition, recipe, or other steps, Olivia was the one who understood most things. However, this woman seemed to have other thoughts these days and was likely to go to Rebirth.
Fortunately, Olivia was different from Lily because Nathaniel still had Oliviaâs employment contract in his hand. He could keep her at MN Inc. longer if he disapproved of her leaving. âWhatâs wrong with the essential oil? Donât you have all the recipes, Mr. Hall? What could go wrong?â Olivia walked in slowly with a smile after she put down her bag, âBesides, Ms. Thayer is here, isnât she? So, why do you still need me?â She said when she saw Melanie looking at her.
Melanie felt humiliated hearing Oliviaâs sarcasm. She immediately rebutted, âOlivia Hart, stop bullsh*tting! Itâs the company assessing you now, not the other way around. Who do you think you are?! Do as youâre told!â
âHow am I bullsh*tting? Did I say something wrong? Ms. Thayer, youâre capable and have made many popular products for the company, so this is just a small problem. I am sure you donât need our help. If you think I am putting on airs and talking nonsense, fine. Just fire me!â Olivia had nothing to fear. She had been waiting for Nathaniel to be fed up with her and fire her. Then she could be free again.
âHow dare you?!â Oliviaâs words angered Melanie. She was about to retaliate when Nathaniel held her down.
âOlivia, please understand Ms. Thayerâs words. This time around, it is indeed the companyâs assessment. The company will give a promotion and a raise to anyone who can deal with this issue. I give you my word,â Nathaniel swore, âHowever, you only have half a day to do it. I need results!â
Everyone was shocked when they heard Nathaniel mentioning a raise and a promotion. All except for Olivia. âWow! Youâre so generous, Mr. Hall. Weâll do our best,â she said with an insincere smile and lazily rolled up her sleeves. Then she turned around and took a seat.
Although Nathaniel could sense the sarcasm in Oliviaâs words, he could only swallow his dissatisfaction. After all, he just hoped to get a result as soon as possible.
âAre you still unable to figure out the difference, Mel?â Nathaniel turned around and asked Melanie in a low whisper.
Melanieâs face turned sullen, âHow would I know?! You know that the formula is⦠Why donât we go and ask Lily instead?â
