Chapter 231
Chasing My Pregnant Wife
Theodore silently kept the documents and put them back in his jacket.
âDo you feel relieved now? Have a good rest, and wait for a suitable heart donor. Youâll be fine.â
âTheo, do you know?â A trace of melancholy flashed past Cynthiaâs eyes. âI originally felt hopeless and was imagining the worst, but now
I waited for the day when youâre finally divorced, and now, my heart is filled with hope again. I know youâll marry me because youâre a man of your word. Iâll survive this no matter what, and live to be your wife.â
Compared to how emotional Cynthia looked, Theodore was exceptionally calm. His face was showing hardly any emotion. He simply nodded, and said, âDonât be so agitated. Keep yourself calm, or it wonât be good for your heart.â
Cynthia could see the calm on Theodoreâs face, and felt slightly annoyed. Now that he was divorced and could finally marry her, he should be over the moon. But why didnât he look happy at all?
Didnât he want to divorce Rosalie?
Cynthia felt uneasy the more she thought about it. She kept telling herself that Theodore cared for her, but she couldnât ignore the indifference he was exuding and the disappointment in his eyes.
After a momentâs thought, she said with feigned empathy, âTheo, I know you two have been together for a long time and you treat her like your sister. The sudden divorce probably left you feeling a little empty inside.â
She held his hand, and gently rubbed her fingers across the back of his hand.
âBut trust me, this is all temporary. Youâll feel much better with time. Sheâs lived with you for so long, itâs normal that you need time to adjust to the sudden separation, even if you donât like her.â
Then, she gave him a tender smile.
âIâll give you time to adjust to it. Donât be anxious. Letâs take things slow.â
They were now divorced, anyway.
It was a matter of time that she and Theodore would be married.
Cynthia therefore didnât mind feigning empathy and pretending to be patient.
âOh yes, Theo. What are your plans after the divorce? Will you be moving out or will she be the one to do so? Andâ¦â
âIâm moving out,â Theodore said. âIâve given her the house we lived in before. I also gave her five percent of SK Enterpriseâs shares.â
Cynthiaâs mind buzzed, on the verge of explosion.
Upon hearing him say âfive percent of SK Enterpriseâs sharesâ, she felt a jolt of electricity coursing through her veins. She could almost hear her blood rushing in her ears.
It wasnât even an exaggeration to say that she felt her world tilting on its axis.
She didnât mind Theodore giving Rosalie that house. She didnât want a house that Rosalie lived in before, anyway.
But⦠Was Theodore crazy, giving her five percent of SK Enterpriseâs shares? How could he do that?!
Rosalie was now a rich woman who could live in the lap of luxury without doing any work. She was free to do whatever she pleased and go anywhere in the world she wanted to!
Beep, beep, beep!
The medical alarm suddenly sounded. Cynthia felt her heartbeat accelerate, and her breathing became labored.
âCindy!â Theodore stood up at once. He turned and yelled, âDoctor!â
Very soon, medical workers rushed in and managed to calm Cynthia down. The alarm died down as her heart rate returned to normal.
The doctor injected tranquilizers into her drip, and she was soon sound asleep. Theodore didnât head in and remained outside her ward, for fear of disrupting her rest.
The doctor told him that her dangerously fast heart rate was due to emotional agitation. Given her heart condition, any minor issue was enough to upset her.
Theodore remembered that Cynthia became agitated when he told her about him giving Rosalie five percent of SK Enterpriseâs shares,
Was Cynthia of the opinion that he gave Rose too much, and that she couldnât accept it?
Her bodily response wouldnât lie. This issue mattered very much to her.
Was five percent shares a lot? Theodore didnât think so.
