Chapter 25
Chasing My Pregnant Wife
âOh, okay.â
Rosalie didnât say much about Theodoreâs answer. This was his home, and he could stay if he
wanted to. Although it was such a normal thing, there was a faint sense of joy in Rosalieâs heart.
During lunch, Rosalie didnât have much of an appetite. Seeing that she was mostly eating
vegetables, Theodore kept putting meat on her plate.
âWhy are you only eating vegetables? Have some meat.â
-Even the sight of meat made Rosalie feel nauseous, but she forced herself to eat it to avoid
suspicion. Fortunately, she had taken some antiânausea medicine that was specifically for
pregnancy symptoms beforehand. So, she could endure it for a while.
âWhat kind of job do you want?â Theodore suddenly asked.
Rosalie looked up at him in confusion. âWhat?â
âDidnât I say Iâd arrange a job for you after you graduate? What do you want to do?â
âOh⦠Itâs fine. Iâll find a job on my own.â
âYouâll find one yourself? Arenât you going to work at SK Enterprise?â
âNo.â Rosalie smiled bitterly. âWeâre getting a divorce. As your exâwife, how can I still work at your
company? Donât worry. Iâm sure Iâll find a job elsewhere.â
âItâs just a job. You donât have to be like this. Or is it that you donât want to work in finance despite
saying you have no regrets?â
Every time they talked these days, Theodore could feel his wife
denberately avoiding him. If she was already behaving like this before the divorce, wouldnât they
become strangers after it?
I want to further my studies,â Rosalle said, the only excuse she could come up with.
âYou want to study more?â
âYeah. I think itâs better to have a masterâs degree in finance.â
âOkay. If thatâs what you want to do, go ahead.â
Since Rosalie wanted to study further, Theodore had no reason to stop her.
âWhich university do you want to apply to?â
âLetâs talk about it later. I need to think about it carefully.â
Rosalie didnât want to discuss this issue now. Saying she wanted to further her studies was just a
temporary excuse. Theodore nodded and didnât ask further questions.
When the couple returned to their bedroom after lunch, Theodore. took a gift box out of the cabinet
and handed it to his wife.
âWhatâs this?â Rosalie asked.
âItâs your birthday present.â
Rosalie was speechless. It had already been several days since her birthday.
âWhat are you waiting for? Take it.â
Opening the gift box, Rosalie found a very beautiful crystal bracelet inside it. Although she didnât
know much about crystals, she could tell the bracelet was of high quality and quite expensive.
âWhy are you giving me a birthday gift today out of nowhere?â
+25 BONDS
forgot about your birthday and didnât prepare anything previously. I ust bought this today to
make up for it.â Theodore casually replied, sounding like it was indeed the case
1 see. Thank you.â
Wasnât it expected for him to forget her birthday once Cynthia returned? It made sense that he
would only remember Cynthiaâs
birthday from now on.
Theodore sat on the edge of the bed, took the bracelet, and put it on Rosalieâs wrist. The sparkling
crystal bracelet radiated a glossy texture, accentuating her already smooth skin.
âThank you.â
âYouâre welcome. You should wear it often. Itâs said that this kind of crystal good for health,
Theodore said with a deep gaze, seemingly carrying a deeper meaning.
Rosalie lightly touched the bracelet on her wrist, her heart filled with mixed emotions.
Theodore gently embraced her. âItâs very beautiful.â
Rosalie nodded. âYes, it is.â
However, what she wanted wasnât things like this.
Theodore was momentarily lost in thought as he stared at Rosalieâs beautiful face. He suddenly
held her chin and turned her face towards him, leaning down to kiss her. They had kissed many
times before, so when he leaned in, Rosalieâs initial reaction wasnât rejection, but to close her eyes.
Just as their lips met, a sudden ringtone from Theodoreâs phone interrupted the moment.
He seemed a bit annoyed, but when he checked the caller ID and saw
it was Cynthia, the irritation in his eyes dissipated instantly. He answered the call and held the
phone to his ear.
âWhatâs up, Cindy?â
Rosalie couldnât hear what Cynthia said, but after a moment, Theodore said, âI got it. Iâll be right
there.â
After ending the call, he immediately stood up. âI have to go now.â âOkay,â Rosalie responded
indifferently, despite her aching heart. Seeing her silent demeanor, Theodore opened his mouth as
if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he said nothing and left.
Rosalie collapsed weakly onto the bed, caressing the bracelet on her wrist. No matter what
happened, Theodore would always choose Cynthia in any situation.
