Chapter 261
Chasing My Pregnant Wife
Theodore had no idea why he suddenly behaved so obediently.
Shouldnât he have become more carefree and unrestrained after the divorce?
As it turned out, he had much more to learn.
Theodore yawned. He didnât sleep well last night.
Rosalie noticed the fatigue in his eyes. âGo to bed now.â
âI need a shower,â Theodore said.
âIâll get a male servant to come help you. You canât let your wound come in contact with water.â
âYouâre going to get another man to see my naked body?â Theodore said, clearly annoyed.
He felt as though she was trying to push him to another man.
âWhatâs wrong with that? Itâs precisely because heâs a man that itâs appropriate for him to help you. I
canât possibly find a female servant to help you, can I?â Rosalie retorted.
Theodore simply stared wordlessly at her.
She finally understood where he was going.
âAre you thinkingâ¦of having me help you shower?â she asked slowly.
âWhy not? Itâs not like youâve never done it before.â
âWeâre already divorced.â
âSo what? Weâve seen each other naked before.â
Rosalie sighed. âDonât forget that Cynthia is still in hospital right now.
âDonât mention her name.â Theodoreâs eyes turned cold. âCan we not talk about her, just for
tonight?â
The only thing he wanted tonight was to be with Rosalie.
Rosalie stood up, and said, âIâll go prepare the shower. Wait for me.â
She walked to the washroom.
Seeing Theodore in this state made her heart ache, and she couldnât help but agree to his request.
She couldnât just let him be, at least not at this point.
Just knowing that he was injured made her anxious, and her heart broke at seeing his wound in
person. That was what drove her to stay -behind and take care of him.
In truth, she had no clue what to do right now. Should she continue loving this man, and until when
should she allow herself to do so?
Letting go of this love was hard. In fact, it was immensely torturous.
She clearly knew that getting close to him was dangerous and potentially painful, yet it didnât stop
her from throwing caution to the wind.
Theodore heaved a sigh of relief and laid back down on the bed, finally feeling relaxed. The moment
his back touched the bed, his eyes widened as he shot back up again.
It was soâ¦damnâ¦painfulâ¦
After a while, his phone rang. It was Cynthia calling.
He looked toward the washroom before answering the call.
âHello,â he said.
âTheo, I feel rather unwell. Where are you now?â
âIâm at home,â he said. He instinctively blurted out the word âhomeâ, a clear indication that he had
always treated this place as his home- his real home. That had never changed, despite the fact that
he never declared it out loud.
âCan you come and keep me company? Iâm scared,â Cynthia said shakily.
In a voice that was gentle but firm, Theodore told her, âItâs very late now, so you should get some
rest. I wonât be dropping by today.â
âBut you didnât come see me last night, either!â Cynthia said piteously. âWhat happened?â
âNothing. Iâve been very busy these few days, and have a lot of work to clear. Get some rest, and Iâll
go visit you once Iâm done.â
Now that he was injured, it wasnât convenient for him to move around.
âYou can always come here and work. Donât worry, I wonât disturb
you.â
Theodoreâs face turned cold. âI canât work at the hospital, Cindy. Whatever it is, Iâm not going. Have
a good reset.â
Cynthiaâs heart trembled when she heard Theodoreâs cold, hard rejection.
Did he reject her because he had grown sick and tired of her? Was he just trying to placate her
because she was on her deathbed?
Cynthia gripped the sheets tight, and was about to say more when she heard a womanâs voice from
the other end of the call.
âTheo, the showerâs ready. Come over.â
Cynthia felt as though she had been struck by lightning.
