Chapter 43
Chasing My Pregnant Wife
After a short while, the call connected.
âHello.
With Rebecca nearby, Rosalie couldnât afford to sound too distant when talking to Theodore.
So, she had to warmly say, âHoney, itâs me.â
Hearing Rosalieâs tone, Theodore frowned, feeling a bit puzzled. Whatâs up?â
âWhen are you coming to Grandmaâs place?â
Theodore glanced at his watch. âIâll come later.â
âCan you come earlier?â
âWhy the rush? Itâs still early.â
âI just want you to come earlier and spend more time with Grandma.
âIs that Grandmaâs request?â
Rosalie responded with a hum.
âIn that case, you can tell her Iâll come later.â
âButâ¦â
âHave you forgotten what you said earlier? Youâve been patient with me for a long time. Itâll be more
comfortable for you if I come later, so you wonât have trouble eating.â
After saying that, Theodore abruptly hung up, as though sulking and holding her to her words.
Rosalie had only said those things because she had no other choice,
afraid Theodore would find out she was pregnant. She hadnât expected him to use it against her.
âWhat did he say?â Rebecca asked curiously.
Rosalie forced a smile. âHe said heâll try to come as soon as possible.â
âThat childâ¦â Rebecca sighed.
Seeing that Rebecca looked tired, Rosalie said, âGrandma, let me help you back to your room so
you can rest for a while.â
âOkay.â
They would all need some energy for dinner later, so it was wise to
rest beforehand.
After escorting Rebecca back to her room and tucking her in, Rosalie left. At the door, she
immediately took out her phone and sent a text
message.
[I hope that our issues wonât affect Grandma. She really wants to see. you, so please donât let your
feelings towards me affect her. I have already assured her that youâwill come as soon as possible.
Whatever you feel about me, itâs up to you to handle.]
Theodore didnât reply to her message. However, he arrived at the manor less than an hour later to
find Rosalie busy knitting a scarf.
Rebecca liked to knit when she was bored, and she would often teach
Rosalie. So, she would sometimes continue knitting the old womanâs projects on her behalf.
Rosalie was knitting so intently that she didnât notice Theodoreâs arrival until the tall man sat down
next to her, startling her. One of the knitting needles pierced her finger, and though it had a rounded
tip and normally wouldnât cause much pain even if one was pricked, Rosalie had been startled so
badly that she had jabbed her finger a little too forcefully.
20
She exclaimed in pain and clutched her hand as the ball of yarn and needles fell off her lap to the
floor. Theodore frowned, bending down. to pick up the items from the floor and place them on the
nearby coffee table.
He grabbed his wifeâs hand. âWhy are you so careless?â
The gap under Rosalieâs nail bed had turned red. Although there was no bleeding, it was evident
that it hurt. After all, the nerves in the fingers were closely connected to the heart.
âYou appeared without a word, startling me, and now you blame me?â Rosalie pulled her hand back
forcefully.
Hearing the womanâs cold tone, Theodore narrowed his eyes, obviously displeased. âAre you
implying itâs all my fault?â
âI didnât say that,â Rosalie replied, not wanting to argue with him.
This kind of situation never led to a good outcome.
But Theodore seemed determined to clarify the matter.
âBefore we got married, you said you saw me as a brother and had no feelings for me. Even when I
mentioned divorce, you said the same. And before I took you to the hospital, you said you had been
patient with me for long enough. Now, Iâve given you freedom, and yet you feel wronged?â
âYes, whatever. I feel wronged. Whatever the mighty CEO of SK Enterprise does is always right,â
Rosalie said sarcastically as she picked up the yarn, intending to continue knitting.
