Chapter 75
Chasing My Pregnant Wife
Rosalie was the first to arrive at the restaurant. Sydney had sent her a text a few minutes earlier,
saying that she was running te and
asking her daughterâinâlaw to sit and wait for her. Guided by the
waiter, Rosalie found Sydneyâs table.
But when she saw the woman who was sitting there, her face immediately turned cold.
âCynthia, what are you doing here?â
Seeing Rosalie, Cynthia also looked puzzled.
But soon, she lifted her head proudly and said, âIs it wrong for my future motherâinâlaw to invite me
for a meal?â
âYour future motherâinâlaw? Are you referring to Theoâs mother?â
âWho else could it be?â Cynthia smirked. âMom called me last night and said she wanted to have a
meal with me today. She seemed to be in a good mood. It seems she really supports her sonâs love.
Sheâs the one who truly cares about her son, having carried him for nine months.â
Rosalie snorted. âSo, you mean Grandma and his father donât care. about him, right?â
âI didnât say that. Donât put words in my mouth,â Cynthia said. innocently.
Rosalie took her phone out of her bag and called Sydney. The call
went unanswered, so she sent her motherâinâlaw a WhatsApp
message instead.
[Mom, why did you also invite Cynthia? If you two are going to have a meal together, then Iâll leave
first.]
Sydney quickly replied. Donât leave I invited both of you. Please sit
down and wait for a moment. Iâll be there soon
[Mom, why are you doing this?)
[Weâll talk once I get there. Donât leave ]
Rosalie didnât understand what Sydney meant. Since her motherâin- law had done this, there must
be a reason for it. There was nothing Rosalie could do but stay here for the time being. She
returned her phone to her bag and sat across from Cynthia.
âYou still donât know that Theo was in a car accident, right?â said
Cynthia, taking a sip of her juice
Rosalie pretended to be surprised, asking, âReally? When did it happen?â
âIt was days ago. Iâve been with him the whole time.â
Rosalie clenched her fists, but still maintained a smile on her face Thank you for your hard work.â
âDonât mention it. Anyway, Theo and I are going to get married in the future. Whatâs more important
is that Theo got into the accident because of me. I fell ill, and he was too busy taking care of me,
which led to him driving while tired.â
Cynthia placed her hands on her chest, looking sad. âThank goodness heâs okay. Otherwise, I
wouldnât want to live anymore. He would die for me, and I would do the same for him.â
Rosalie stared at the other woman coldly, silently watching her act before eventually asking, âMs.
Zeller, why do you think Theo didnât tell me about his car accident?â
âMaybe because he wanted me to be with him and didnât want to be disturbed by outsiders,â
Cynthia replied, her lips curling into a
victorious smile.
âMs. Zeller, perhaps youâre wrong. I happened to be hospitalized for stomach problems when Theo
was in the accident, so maybe he just didnât want me to worry.â
Cynthia frowned. âIs that so? But Iâm more inclined to think that he didnât want you to bother him.
Rosalie, donât be too naive. You know. Theoâs feelings for me.â
Seeing Cynthiaâs confident appearance, Rosalie couldnât help but think that the other woman was
ordinary yet confident. She was snobbish, arrogant, and selfâassured. Be it in terms of career or
character, she looked down on other people. There was not a single commendable thing about her.
âReally?â Rosalie smiled slightly. âThen, Iâll call Theo now and ask him whether he didnât tell me
about his car accident because he didnât want me to worry or because he wanted you to be with
him.
âIf itâs not because he didnât want me to worry, well, then itâs as you said. Also, you said he got into
the accident because of you. I wonder what his reaction will be.â
Rosalieâs tone suddenly sounded a bit hostile, intentionally provoking Cynthia. After all, many would
want to do the same if they were in this situation, but simply didnât bother to do so.
