Chapter 1090: Parachute
Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress
"Renren, are you sure thatâs all you need?" asked Penny on the way to the airport. Since she had so much to bring, they had to ride in a separate car.
"Mhm." Zoren hummed as he nodded. "Whenever I fly out of the country, I donât need much."
Penny pouted. "This makes me look like a maniac for bringing so much."
"Back then, I flew out a few times to meet some specialists since they couldnât fly out to see me," Zoren shared. "I didnât need much, since I was only going to wear hospital gowns."
"Oh..." Pennyâs eyes wiggled a little as she looked at her husband with slight pity. She mentally wept, telling herself how insensitive and careless she had been not to think of that. As a loving wife, she shouldâve volunteered to pack his stuff too, instead of insisting they pack their own things.
"Besides..." Zoren trailed off while his wife looked at him with so much pity. The corner of his mouth lifted into a devious smirk. "I donât need a lot of clothes â I donât think Iâll even need them at all."
"Ah?" Penny snapped back from her trance, blinking at him blankly. Seeing that mischievous look on his face, her cheeks slowly turned red.
âHe wonât need them at all... what does that mean?â she asked herself, her mind going into overdrive as she imagined the more primitive activities they might experience.
Zoren chuckled, stroking her head gently. He leaned over to her and whispered in her ear, "You wonât need them either."
"!!!"
Her reaction made him laugh louder, seeing his wifeâs eyes spiral. He wasnât joking; he had planned to make the best out of this vacation. Not only would they enjoy days free from any worries except how to make his wife happy, but he could also focus on finding that formula for quadruplets. Now, he could focus on which position was best to have four at once.
---
Vacation.
What a good thing many people anticipated... which Penny and even Zoren hadnât expected to have. Before their romance blossomed, both of them had lived hectic lives. The word "vacation" was practically nonexistent to them.
For them, work was life.
Penny was eager to make a name for herself and to be powerful enough to protect herself from any catastrophe that might befall her. She started young, and the only memory she had of a real vacation was when her father took them to an exclusive resort when they were children.
The Bennet family still went on vacations during the times Penny would come home for breaks, but she couldnât enjoy them. After all, she might not be studying, but she was still working on something.
It was the same for Zoren, who had spent much of his childhood in and out of hospitals. When he got better, he quickly assumed the position of CEO. People might think being in that kind of standing would grant him unlimited vacation, but that wasnât true. While everyone else in the company would get their well-deserved vacation leave, Zoren would work every single day. He wouldnât even have a day off, even if everyone begged him to take one.
Why would he need a vacation when his body would automatically send him to the hospital for a day or two to rest?
So, it was safe to say that this vacation wasnât just the first time they would have as a couple, but also the first real vacation theyâd had in a very long time.
But...
Penny gasped in horror, pointing at the person seated leisurely in the private jet. "First Brother, what are you doing here?!" She then rushed to where he was seated, bobbing her head up and down to study her brother.
From head to toe, Atlas was dressed in casual attire â a printed beach shirt, a fedora straw hat, sunglasses, and shorts! One would have to be blind not to see that he was in full vacation mode.
Atlas slowly looked up at her and flatly said, "I happen to have a business meeting on the island youâre going to. Iâm saving the company money by tagging along."
"Hah!" Penny staggered back, looking at Zoren in disbelief. "Renren, how come I didnât know he was tagging along?"
Zoren smiled. "I was so busy thinking about our vacation that he slipped my mind. Donât worry. Heâs just boarding with us, but heâs going on a business trip."
"Business trip?" she gasped, pointing at her nonchalant first brother. "Renren, can you see his attire?! Heâs going on a vacation!"
"Oh..." Zoren nodded and smiled at Atlas. "Enjoy your vacation. My wife and I too."
"No, Iâm not going on a vacation."
"Then, good luck on your business trip."
"Thanks."
Penny covered her mouth in disbelief, eyes on her innocent husband, who had fallen for Atlasâs tricks. Surely, she needed to start training her husband on the basics: how to see through her brotherâs antics. However, Penny was a little late for that because...
"Hey there!" Suddenly, Penny heard a very familiar voice. "Glad I made it â wow! This plane is awesome. I fly the heli, but not like this!"
Slowly, Penny turned her head, and her face contorted. Hugo, also in vacation attire, approached them. Hugo grinned from ear to ear, his eyes squinting.
"Hey, Penny! Looking good in that dress!" he praised. "I didnât know you guys were coming as well!"
"Huh?" Penny deadpanned, looking at her second brother dead in the eye. "You didnât know we were coming as well?"
Hugo laughed and nodded, only to sweat buckets under his sisterâs gaze.
Penny pinched the bridge of her nose in distress, trying to calm herself with some breathing exercises. However, a part of her knew that even if she did a yoga session right here and now, it wouldnât help her stay calm.
"Itâs okay," Zoren placed a hand on her back, nodding at her reassuringly with a smile. "Weâre going to have fun... the two of us."
Pennyâs face softened as her tensed shoulders relaxed. "Iâm glad Iâm married to you," she mumbled. "Otherwise, someone â or rather, two people â wouldâve needed parachutes because theyâd get kicked out midair."
Zoren laughed nervously, soothing his wife while she was blazing in fury. Yet, Atlas was unfazed, reading a magazine. As for Hugo, he quickly jumped into the seat across from Atlas, leaning over as he whispered,
"First Brother, I brought an extra parachute just in case."
Atlas snapped his eyes up at him, his tone still cold as he replied in all seriousness, "No need. I brought one."
