Chapter 1125: That’s your cousin?
Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress
"I told her to just wait for me." Benjamin frowned as he recognized his cousin. "Also, where did she get that motorcycle?"
"Thatâs your cousin?" Allen was in awe, a bit surprised now that he had laid eyes on Benjaminâs cousin. He couldnât help but cast Benjamin a quick glance, making the latter arch a brow at him.
"Allen, I donât like the way youâre looking at me. It makes me feel like youâre thinking something bad."
Benjamin wasnât wrong. Although Allen might not have been thinking something bad, he was definitely thinking something offensive.
Benjamin and Mint didnât look alike. In fact, there wasnât even a slight resemblance, despite them being cousins.
"Letâs go," Zoren prompted, holding his wifeâs hand.
Mint idled on her motorcycle, leaning against it as she watched the group approach. After all, in order for them to go on their ride, they had to walk past her. Her smile remained as she waved at Atlas, who didnât even bother to make eye contact with her. If anything, he was still looking at the helmet on her side.
"Mint!" Benjamin called, picking up his pace and walking past the group. "What are you doing here?"
Mint slowly turned her attention to her cousin. Her smile brightened, and her eyes remained squinted. However, her smile didnât last long when she noticed someone walking behind Benjamin. Slowly, Mintâs squinting eyes cracked open.
"Wow, nice ride!" Hugo stopped in front of her. "Can I try it?"
But all he got was silence, as Mint suddenly walked away from him. Turning his head, his brows furrowed as he watched her walk toward Benjamin. But instead of stopping in front of Benjamin, Mint walked past him until she was standing in front of Zoren.
"Do they know each other?" wondered Hugo, assuming Mint knew Zoren because of Benjamin.
Everyone, even Atlas, stopped when they saw Mint halt in front of the couple.
"Huh?" Benjamin furrowed his brows, looking back at his cousin. "Whatâs up with her? Sheâs never this excited to see him."
Those who were staring at Mintâs back didnât realize that Mint didnât stop for Zoren. She stopped because of the goddess standing beside him.
"What is she doing?" Allen leaned toward James, his eyes still on Mint. They were walking just a step behind the couple, so they could see what Mint was focused on. "Sheâs just staring at Miss Penny."
"I donât know..." James whispered back.
Pennyâs brows rose as she noticed the gorgeous woman standing before her. She blinked, carrying a slight look of surprise. She had imagined what Mint might look likeâa girl version of Benjamin with long hairâbut she didnât expect her to be so gorgeous. That short hair suited Mintâs small face perfectly, and her aura gave off a natural tension.
If Penny had to describe Mintâs aura, sheâd say it was like that of an ancient general: regal, intimidating, and righteous.
"Mint, itâs been aâ"
"Shh!" Mint raised a finger in Zorenâs direction, her eyes still fixed on Penny. "Mr. Pierson, Iâm also glad to see youâre still alive. But Iâm a little busy right now."
"Huh?" was everyoneâs reaction, except Benjaminâs. The latter could only laugh in defeat, not at all surprised by this. After all, Mint and Zoren had met a couple of times before, and Mint was only interested in a few things: if Zoren was bullying Benjamin, and if Zoren was dying so she could finally make use of the coffins she prepared for him.
Meanwhile, Penny, though slightly surprised, suddenly saw Mint beaming at her.
"I see youâre Penelope," Mint said with a satisfied smile. "Iâm Mint."
"Good to finally meet you, Mint."
"Me too!" Mint then opened her palm between them. "Hand."
"Huh?" Confused, Penny glanced at Zoren. But the latter seemed to have no idea what was going on either. So when Penny returned Mintâs gaze, she hesitatingly opened her palm between them.
A low chuckle escaped Mint as she held Pennyâs open palm. Then, she reached into her pocket with her other hand and placed something on top of Pennyâs palm.
"What is... it... huh?" Penny was confused when she saw a ring on top of her palm. "This is..."
"Marry me." Before Penny or anyone else could wonder what was happening, those words flew out of Mintâs mouth. She watched Penny slowly lift her eyes to meet hers, and Mint smiled charmingly. "Letâs get married now â I do. Now, your turn."
For a second, silence followed Mintâs sudden proposal, and everyone could only stare at Mint blankly. As for Benjamin, he gasped and quickly ran to his cousin.
"Mint, what are you doing?!" he panicked, darting his eyes between Penny and Mint, then reaching for their arms. Benjamin tried to pull them apart, but Mint kept her hold on Pennyâs hand. "Mint, let her go! Have you really gone crazy!? How could you just make what you said a reality?!"
Yet Mint ignored him and kept her focus on Penny. "What do you say, Penelope? Come and elope with me."
"..." Penny was rendered speechless. She couldnât seem to find the words to respond. She came here to meet her friends and also Mint, as this womanâs existence seemed to bother Slater. However, never in her wildest imagination had she expected to receive a marriage proposal. And from the very person she was eager to meet.
âI guess... they are cousins,â she thought, trying to form a smile, but failing. âThough I canât deny sheâs charismatic, sheâs a little... weird.â â If Lily were here, sheâd probably have said "I do."
As all this was happening, Zorenâs face continued to darken. His eyes were blank, but they were fixed on the hand holding his wifeâs hand, with a ring on top of it.
[Marry me.]
[Letâs get married now â I do.]
[Come and letâs elope.]
Unforgivable.
Those despicable words Mint had uttered replayed in his head like a broken record. Lifting his eyes to Mint, all he could see was an enemy trying to take away his world.
"Huh?" Mint, who had her focus on Penny, suddenly perked up as she sensed an immediate danger approaching. When she peeled her eyes from Penny, all she saw was a seemingly gigantic hand coming at her to take her life.
