Chapter 1234: He’s going to come after her.
Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress
[PRESENT TIME]
Jonathan huffed and shook his head, clearing his mind of any thoughts of his murder. That death didnât bring him painful memories, but it did fill him with rage. The mere thought of it tempted him to do the same to his ex-wife.
But not now.
It was too soon for him to act. Taunting Finn about it was enough.
"Itâs been a while since Iâve had any satisfactory moments in this place," he mumbled, making a hundred copies of the documents Dean had asked him to do. The task was a no-brainer and boring; he knew Dean didnât need a hundred copies of these. It would just waste a few bundles of paper, but not that Jonathan cared.
Just like anything in the world, the long and boring wait for the copies to finish eventually ended. Now, Jonathan had to carry all of them back to his desk, sort them, and staple them. But as he walked back, carrying a mountain of papers, he stopped.
There, standing a few feet away from him, was Deanâs personal assistant. The same secretary Jonathan had in the past.
âThis woman...âJonathan thought for a long time. â... betrayed me as well.â
After all, his assistant was knowledgeable about many things. It was why, even with Deanâs temper, she had been able to keep her position for so long. In other words, this woman knew that Jonathan was coming home with Nina and a feast of poison. Yet she didnât warn him about it.
Jonathan couldnât help but wonder what else this woman hadnât told him, or what lies she had made him believe. That was why she was on his hit list.
"Studies say it only takes less than ten seconds for a man to fall in love." Suddenly, both Jonathan and Deanâs assistant stiffened when they heard Zorenâs voice from nearby. They slowly turned their heads and confirmed the person standing just a few steps from them was none other than Zoren Pierson.
What was this guy doing here?
"Youâve been staring at her for quite some time," Zoren continued, shifting his gaze to the woman. "Donât marry him. Heâs bad for you. Youâd rather have cancer instead."
Jonathan scoffed. "CEO Pierson, what are you doing here?"
"Iâm lost," Zoren answered without a second thought, his expression and tone dry. "Iâm kidding. Just testing my humor since Iâve been told my humor is becoming badâvery bad. Iâm looking for Dean Pierson."
"Director Dean went out with Mr. Davis, sir," Deanâs assistant replied politely, lowering her head slightly. "If you want, I can relay your message to him."
"Tell him to come by my office once he gets back," Zoren said before shifting his attention to Jonathan. His eyes fell on the mountain of papers Jonathan was carrying. "And tell him to stop wasting our companyâs resources on unnecessary things. I donât think he needs that many copies of a document that will never reach my office."
With that, Zoren turned around to leave.
Jonathan and Deanâs secretary stood there, momentarily speechless. It wasnât like Zoren couldnât visit this department. Zoren could go anywhere in this building without anyoneâs permission, but having him here out of the blue and then him leaving just like that was quite... strange.

[PRIME GROUP]
"Uncle Haines, I didnât tell her anything! I swear!" Penny yelled into the phone, gasping in disbelief as she defended herself. "I know I did a lot of things in the pastâmany, many thingsâbut Iâm innocent this time! I promise!"
Haines had called to scold her about her little "prank" with Grace. He believed Grace wouldnât have pushed so boldly if not for Penny. It wasnât a funny joke.
"Uncle Haines..." Penny frowned, fluttering her eyelashes pitifully. "Do you really think Iâd go that far? Itâs Graceâs idea, and I think sheâs doing this because... I said something she didnât like."
Otherwise, why would Grace do this to Penny? Knowing Grace, this was probably her way of retaliating for something Penny had said or done that Grace didnât like.
"Make her stop," Haines said. "Whatever you did to your friend, apologize, Penny. Thereâs a limit to how far someone can push their luck."
"Yes..." Penny mumbled, listening to the call end, and sighed. "Goodness. I wanted to believe she was kidding, but she said all that to Uncle Haines. How bold!"
A part of her was in awe of the Haines and Grace pairing. After all, even though Haines was twice Graceâs age, he didnât look that old. Well, he was old, but they didnât look bad together! Grace was mature as well. But then again, Penny couldnât jump to conclusions so quickly.
"Itâs either she wants to tease me, or sheâs serious," she mumbled. "Either way, isnât that a little too abrupt? Itâs not like Grace didnât know Uncle Haines. I wonder what happened to her while I was on vacation. Itâs only been five days, though."
Five days was a short time for anything to happen... or not. Penny deadpanned as she remembered their adventurous five-day trip.
"Wellâ"
BAM!
Penny almost jumped from her seat when the door of her office suddenly flew open. Lines quickly formed on her forehead as she turned her eyes to the door.
"Sheâs in danger." Finn, who stormed in in a rush, paced back and forth in front of her desk. "We need to do something, Penny. Sheâs in danger."
For a second, Pennyâs mind went completely blank. First, she met up with Grace, who had just spewed something Penny had thought about all morning. Then Yugi told her Wild was dating. After that, Haines called to scold her because Grace was saying "nonsense," and he blamed her.
And now this.
"I guess the luck I had on the island stuck with me in the end," she mumbled, watching Finn pace back and forth in distress. "Wait, hey. Calm down first, okay?"
Penny pushed herself up, sensing that Finn was very unstable. But just as she stood up, Finn suddenly slammed his hands against the desk and faced her.
"Penny, we really need to do something," he breathed out through gritted teeth. "Heâs going to kill her."
"Wait, I donât understandâ"
"Nina killed him."
"Huh?"
Finnâs breath hitched as he forced out the words. "Nina killed Jonathan in the past life. Heâs going to come after her."
