Chapter 1425: Logical person
Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress
Prime Group was first known for its protection and security services, which started abroad. One of its first clients was an influential yet controversial politician. Although there were no clear details as to why this controversial politician trusted a startup company, his endorsement opened many doors for Prime Group.
From then on, the company grew continuously, with Penny gaining connections in the military and various government agencies. Just a year later, she launched the companyâs cyber security division, which had been in development alongside its security services. However, the personal security sector gained traction first.
Now, Prime Group primarily focused on the cyber security market.
Although the personal security division was still operational, the four new hires hadnât given it much thought. It wasnât that they underestimated the field that propelled Prime Group to success, but they never imagined the company had an entire secret floor dedicated to training its own troops.
"Wow," Hayley breathed out, watching a group of men doing push-ups for several minutes. Still, there was no sign they were stopping anytime soon. Her eyes scanned the room, focusing on their toned musclesâa testament to their rigorous training.
Shawn and Patricia were speechless, both staring in wide-eyed shock. While Shawn struggled to process what he was seeing, Patriciaâs mind had completely shut down.
Teddy, however, furrowed his brows as he carefully observed the trainees. One group was undergoing a training exercise, while another was sparring. He could tell that this secret floor was solely for physical training.
"Sir," Teddy finally spoke, catching Yugiâs attention. "The personal security assistants are all registered firearm holders. However, this floor seems to focus only on physical and close-combat training."
Yugi smiled, but before he could answer, another voice chimed in.
"Youâve got a sharp one here."
Everyone turned toward the source of the voice, their eyes landing on Wild.
"Yes, this floor focuses on close-combat training and conditioning recruits into well-trained agents," Wild explained. "Their job is to protect and keep our clients alive, so their physical fitness is crucial."
He stopped a few steps away from the group, hugging a bowl of popcorn against his chest.
"If youâre wondering whether they train in marksmanship hereâno. I send them elsewhere for that," Wild continued. "The people you see now are just new recruits."
"Theyâre just new recruits?" Patricia gasped, her gaze darting between the trainees. "If this is what the recruits look like, then what about those who are already deployed?"
"Wow! I thought you were silly, but thatâs actually a good question," Wild mused.
"If Penny said that, thatâs slander!" Patricia huffed. "Iâm a logical person!"
Wild laughed, finding the contrast between Teddyâs business-like approach and Patriciaâs cluelessness amusing.
"Even before we partnered with trusted agencies, Prime Group had its own unique security training program," Yugi explained, nodding toward Wild. "Heâs the head of personal security assistance and the man behind all our top-tier agents."
"Sir, itâs a pleasure toâ"
"Donât call me âsirâ!" Wild cut Shawn off with a laugh, waving dismissively. "Everyone here calls me Uncle Wild. And donât you dare call me âT. Mouse.â"
His tone suddenly darkened, and his eyes glinted with something almost unhinged. "I am not Penny, with her weird taste in nicknames. And I definitely donât look like a mouse."
Yugi chuckled, while the four recruits wrinkled their noses slightly. Wildâs name was already strangeânone of them had ever met someone named "Wild" before.
"Anyway, as I was saying, only a handful of Prime Group employees have access to this floor," Yugi continued. "By âa handful,â I mean three peopleâyour boss, Uncle Wild, and me. The recruits you see here havenât even set foot in the main company building. They have a separate entrance and exit. Likewise, all company employees donât even know this floor exists."
The four recruits furrowed their brows, absorbing this new information.
"If thatâs the case..." Hayley trailed off. "Why are we allowed in here?"
"Because you work for Penelope," Wild answered, his tone turning gruff. "You might not get full access to this floorâmaybe not everâbut you at least need to be aware of its existence. After all, Penny is the head of this company, and as her hands and feet, you need to understand certain things."
Wild slowly approached them, stopping right in front of Shawn. His sharp gaze bore into him, lips pressed into a frown, his presence radiating intimidation.
"If you canât keep this floorâs existence confidential," he said, gripping Shawnâs shoulder and pulling him down slightly, "then you donât deserve to work for Penny."
Shawn gulped. He might have been a big guy, but if Wild challenged him to a fight, he wasnât about to accept. He knew he would get beaten to a pulp.
"She doesnât just need competent people," Wild continued. "She needs people who know when to keep their mouths shut and understand the importance of loyalty."
"Haha," Yugi chuckled. "Uncle Wild, stop scaring them."
Wild finally let go of Shawnâs shoulder, dusting it off as if wiping away imaginary dirt.
"Thatâs all Iâm saying. And that goes for the rest of you."
"We understand," Teddy replied, unfazed by Wildâs intimidation.
"Keeping my mouth shut is one of my fortes," Hayley added with a confident smile. "Donât worry. Weâll prove that we deserve to be here."
Patricia glanced between Hayley and Teddy before raising a hand. "Thatâs true. Penny hired us for a reason, and weâre going to prove we deserve it."
Wild eyed them, skeptical. âThose two... I donât doubt. But you and this big crybaby...?âHe kept his thoughts to himself and shrugged before turning to Yugi.
"Anyway, is Penny in her office yet?"
"She said sheâd be late today, but weâre heading off to the preliminaries," Yugi replied, flashing Wild a teasing smile. "So, no grilling meat in her office."
"Gah!" Wild spat, waving a hand dismissively. "Get these kids out of here before I get the idea to let them spar with one of my men."
Shawn stiffened, having the eerie feeling that Wild was talking about him specifically. Hayley and Teddy remained composed, both seeming almost eager. Something about this floor had sparked something in them.
Patricia, on the other hand, found herself deep in thought.
âIf Angel and that weird Mylo are already deployed... does that mean theyâre even better than these guys?âHer face scrunched up. âAngel saved me, but I still canât picture him fighting like this. He looks way too weak to be on their level.â
If only she knew.
Had Angel not been deployed to Zoren, he would be the one sparring with these recruitsâshattering their morale to pieces.
