Chapter 1670: Where’s the fun in that?
Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress
Cassandra remained quiet throughout the ride, eyes fixed on the flashing side road. Her mind repeated Graceâs advice to her like a broken record.
Kiara would eventually find out, and it wasnât just a matter of time, but who.
Her reaction might be the same, but wasnât it better for Kiara to know about what Cassandra did from her?
Another deep exhale escaped Cassandra, raising her brows as she finally noticed her surroundings. The lights on the side of the road were now on, while the sky had grown darker. When they left Graceâs home, it was still bright.
âAnother day...â she thought, only to notice that they were entering a subdivision.
Cassandra furrowed her brows, recognizing the entrance they were entering.
"Skyline Plaza again?" Kiara whispered, turning to Hugo. "Your brother-in-law owns another property in the Skyline Plaza?"
"Is it that big of a deal?" he asked, barely giving her a side-eye.
Kiara scrunched up her nose, unsure if he said that out of pure ignorance or sarcasm. She decided not to answer, leaning back.
"Itâs not that big," Hugo added after a few seconds. "But itâs safe. This area is safe, and itâs close. So, if anything happens, reinforcement can arrive in less than a minute."
"Thanks," she expressed quietly. "I owe you big time."
"You should."
Her smile disappeared, but she didnât dispute that. She owed him, and that was the truth. Even if her pride would get the better of her, it was something she couldnât deny. After all, she was probably still begging other people for help if he didnât step in.
With that, silence quickly followed them as they focused on the road. When their vehicle started slowing down, Kiara blinked, watching the gates open to the wide parking space of a modern three-story home.
She looked back at him in disbelief. "You call this... not that big?"
Hugo parked and then stopped, cocking his head at her. "Itâs not me, itâs my brother-in-law who says that."
"..." Kiara opened and closed her mouth, her brain glitching for a bit.
A small lot in the Skyline Plaza is worth a fortune with its ridiculously expensive per square meter value. It wouldnât be called a billionaireâs row for no reason. Even so, she could understand if there were a few who spent a fortune on the lot and built a small home.
After all, she met quite a handful of people who hurt their capital flow just to get a spot in this place as part of their investment plan.
But this house... it wasnât just a small villa. It was a modern mansion, but without a driveway, only a wide parking space.
Kiaraâs thoughts halted when she heard the door click shut. Turning her head, she saw that Hugo and Cassandra had already stepped out. She jolted slightly and jumped out, looking at the wide entrance of the home.
Cassandra looked at the place and then turned to Hugo.
"Thank you for all your help," she expressed, lowering her head. "Please send my regards to Penny."
Hugo kept his lips drawn into a thin line, rocking his head. "You should rest. According to Grace, you need to take care of a lot of things involving brain work. So, rest well! Go, go!"
Cassandra pressed her lips into a thin line, nodding.
"Thank you," she expressed again, shifting her attention to where Kiara was coming from.
"Wow..." Kiara was in awe, eyeing the entrance while approaching the two. When she stopped, she faced Hugo with a big smile. "Hugo, please tell Penny that she didnât really have to, but thanks so much! Also to her husband. I didnât know sheâs married, but weâre very grateful."
Hugo just shrugged.
Kiara smiled back before beaming at Cassandra. The grandiose accommodation wasnât what truly made her happy, but their security and peace of mind. Even though it was a little far from her warehouse, that was fine.
With that, both ladies faced Hugo once more and then bid him farewell. Hugo leaned against the car, watching them turn around and walk away. But then, he stretched his arm and hooked a finger behind Kiaraâs collar.
"Ack â" Kiara leaned back on instinct as the collar of her shirt pressed on her throat.
"Hmm?" Cassandra looked back to see what was happening, only to catch her friend walking back while Hugo was pulling the back of Kiaraâs collar.
Kiara instinctively pulled her shirt and looked back at him in disbelief.
"Uh... hello?" she gasped in dismay. "Hugo, Iâm not a fish. Why are you hooking me like I am?"
Hugo grinned until his eyes were squinting. "Grace said she needs some peace so she could focus," he said while pointing at Cassandra with his other finger, before that same finger pointed at him. "I, on the other hand, am hungry."
"Hah?!"
"Iâve done a lot today, so buy me dinner. Donât collect debt like itâs a hobby. Time to settle some," he continued while literally dragging her by the back of her shirt.
"Waitâ" Kiara, intuitively following him because she might end up choking if she resisted.
He dragged her back to the front passenger seat, keeping his hold on her as he opened the door. In the blink of an eye, Kiara found herself tossed into the front passenger seat while Hugo jogged around to the driverâs seat.
As soon as he sat in the driverâs seat, he honked at Cassandra mildly before he started driving in reverse.
"..." Kiaraâs face twitched, looking at him in disbelief.
Meanwhile, Hugo just casually backed up until he was out. But before driving away, he looked at her and puckered his lips.
"Your seatbelt," he said. "Itâs there for a reason."
She scoffed. "Hugo, do you think Iâm a walking food vending machine?"
"Yes."
"..." Kiara pressed her lips, dramatically clutching her chest.
This was her fault. She shouldâve protested the second he stole her noodles. If not that, she shouldnât have fed him or treated him to a meal a few more times. Now, she was being dragged out just because he was hungry!
Kiara winced as she swallowed the bitterness, knowing this was one of the consequences of her choices. Besides, he had every right to ask for a meal.
"Fine!" she glared at him as she irritably pulled on the seatbelt. "But can you please just ask next time?"
He deadpanned. "Whereâs the fun in that?"
"..."

Meanwhile, Cassandra remained standing in the same spot, staring at the car outside. After a second, a shallow chuckle escaped her, her eyes softening.
"Heâs like a boy teasing his crush."
