Chapter 550: Escort them out
Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress
Everyone already assumed that Zoren Pierson was here for Atlas. However, many people were still in denial, telling themselves that Zoren came here as a guest as well. So, hearing those boastful remarks from Benjamin caused another wave of silence.
"So, itâs true?" one person in the crowd murmured in disbelief. "Mr. Zoren Pierson is here because of CEO Bennet."
"Didnât you say an occasion like the Giving Gala is too small for the Piersons to step foot in? Yet, the head of the Pierson family is here himselfânot as a guest, but as a plus one."
"Does that mean even the Giving Gala couldnât bring Zoren Pierson here, but Atlas could?"
"Oh, my god. Honey, did you call Mr. Bennet for an appointment?"
"Fortunately, I was given a chance to meet him in five months." The couple looked at each other, certain that in five months, their ranking on the social ladder would shoot up.
Along with the surprise from Benjaminâs remarks came relief and some excitement. After all, some of them had ridden the tides when they heard about the legendary golden invitation. Thus, they had secured a chance to do business with Atlas Bennet.
Now, aside from the fact that Atlas and Zoren Pierson were on good terms, Atlasâs sister turned out to be the CEO of Prime Group!
Benjamin smirked, now pleased that everyone seemed to understand the situation. Hence, when he gazed down at Sven, he snorted.
"What are you still doing here?!" he harrumphed shamelessly. "Have you no shame for staying hereâguards!"
The eventâs guards, who had been stuck in the crowd, snapped out of their thoughts. They flinched when Benjaminâs fiery gaze landed on them.
"Uh... yes!" was all they could say before Benjamin could speak. "Weâll escort the troublemaker out of this place right this instant!"
"Mr. Sven Bennet, please come with us!" another guard quickly approached Sven. "Please. Youâve embarrassed yourself enough. Donât force us to drag you out."
Some guards, scared of Benjamin, quickly approached Mr. Ito. Since Mr. Ito was also involved in this turn of eventsâessentially the person who started itâthey assumed they had to take him out as well.
"Mr. Ito, please, this way," one of the guards spoke politely. "Please comply. Otherwise, weâll have to drag you out as well."
Mr. Itoâs face turned red as he glanced at the bodyguards. But with Penny here, he couldnât say another word.
"Mr. Miller, please follow us as well," said another bodyguard.
"What? Why am I being escorted out as well?!" Theo exclaimed in shock.
"Isnât Mr. Ito your plus-one, sir?"
Theoâs face drained as soon as he heard that. Not only did he appear tonight as the Bennet familyâs trash bin, but now he was being escorted out even before he could expand his network. All of this was because of Mr. Ito.
"Please, Mr. Miller." The guard took a step closer, reaching out to Theoâs arm.
Just as Penny opened her mouth to stop the guard from escorting the man out, a hand suddenly slapped the guardâs hand.
"And who do you think you are to do this to my son?!" The voice was sharp and loud, earning everyoneâs attention. When all eyes landed on the figure, they quickly recognized her.
Mrs. Miller.
Earlier, Mrs. Miller had been on the other side of the event hall, chatting happily with her friends. She had been to countless social gatherings, so she hadnât paid much attention to the drama on the other side. After all, she was too busy bragging about her Patricia to the older women, who willingly indulged the mother of the future matriarch of the Pierson family.
She only stopped when she suddenly got wind of Zoren Piersonâs attendance. Mrs. Miller assumed Zoren came here to surprise Patricia. She believed it, and so did her friends. But as they approached, they heard that Zoren was there as Atlasâs plus one.
It confused her and the group of older women with her. Even so, Mrs. Miller deemed Zoren private and thought that men had their own business to take care of. Thus, they squeezed themselves into the crowd, only to hear that the guards were trying to escort Theo Miller out.
"Have you lost your mind?!" Mrs. Miller fumed at the guards. "Do you know who youâre trying to escort out of this event?!"
Mrs. Miller then looked around, searching for Zoren. It didnât take long for her to find him; she only had to look for anyone who stood out in the crowd. She quickly made her way in front of Zoren, smiling humbly.
"Mr. Pierson, I know you havenât met my son, but that man is Theo Miller, Patriciaâs brother!" Mrs. Miller exclaimed, making Benjaminâs breath hitch.
âOh, no!âBenjamin panicked, looking in Pennyâs direction. âMiss Penny, what am I going to do?!â
On one hand, Penny had asked him to be nice to Patricia. Benjamin did as he was told, even sending Patricia gifts. Although those gifts were mostly trash that would have been thrown in the bin, he still sent them, since Zoren didnât have the decency to do that for his "Thursday Girl."
But now that Mrs. Miller was here, and they were in public, Benjamin had no power to swat these flies away! Penny had long taken that power away from him.
Mrs. Millerâs smile stiffened when Zoren just stared at her with a blank expression. âRight. He probably doesnât know me yet since we havenât met.â
"Ahem!" Mrs. Miller cleared her throat and fixed her smile. "I am Patriciaâs mom, Mr. Pierson. I thought you came here for her, but when I heard you were with Atlas Bennet, I didnât want to interrupt your business affairs. So, I didnât want to interfere. But these people were being too much and were dragging my son away as if he were some sort of a criminal!"
Mrs. Miller assessed Zorenâs face, confused as to why he wasnât reacting in the slightest. But she wasnât the type to back down, justifying Zorenâs lack of reaction. Hence, when she caught a familiar figure from the corner of her eye, she quickly turned.
"Patricia!"
