Chapter 613: I hit where it hurts
Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress
"What the...?" Aiden was momentarily flabbergasted when he saw that Lily had escaped. He looked at the hired men with a disgusted expression, sneering. "What the hell is wrong with you?! Get her!"
The hired men looked back at the grumpy young master before shifting their eyes to Penny. One of themâthe one Lily bitâtook a step forward, only to stop when Penny extended her arm to the side.
"Take another step, and donât blame me for whatâs going to happen to you." Pennyâs voice was calm, but it carried a weight that even men like them wouldnât ignore.
The man stepped back, assessing the look in Pennyâs eyes. He then exchanged a meaningful glance with the other man. Even without words, they intuitively understood what it meant.
This woman was trouble. It was better to be careful around her.
As for Aiden, he found their hesitation odd and disappointing. "What are you doing? I said, get her! Why are you stopping just because a womanâ" The rest of his words caught in his throat, almost choking him as he felt something sharp graze his cheek.
Pang!
Behind him were the shattered pieces of the wine glass Penny had been holding, hitting the table where they broke apart. Aidenâs eyes slowly widened as he gasped, his complexion pale as his world seemed to move in slow motion.
It was strange that he hadnât seen the glass fly in his direction, but at the same time, he felt the sharp edge of the broken glass almost hit him straight in the eye. The only question now was: did she miss? Or was it on purpose?
The answer was obvious to some people.
It was on purpose.
"You," Penny called, her eyelids drooping. "You better run away, because after them, youâre next."
Aiden almost squealed in horror as his entire body shuddered at the coldness of her voice. Her eyes, however, were just as fiery as the land of the damned.
"Whatâwho do you think you are, huh?!" Despite his sudden fright at Pennyâs threats, Aiden still took the high road and pointed at her. In his mind, Penny was "just" a woman. What could she do against the men he hired when they were twice their size?
Penny sneered, shaking her head as she saw how much of a loser this guy was. She then snapped her gaze to the men, and before they could focus on her, she took a step back, using it to gain momentum as she pushed herself forward, doing a forward flip.
In the blink of an eye, her heel struck the manâs jaw, taking him down in one blow while she landed gracefully on her feet.
THUD!
"..."
For a moment, the club, which had been filled with loud music and a cheerful atmosphere, fell into a pin-drop silence. Even those on the other side, who werenât curious enough to see the commotion near the bar, paused.
Everything stoppedâeven the musicâas everyone rose from their seats and stretched their necks to see what was going on. Meanwhile, those already in the area stared at Penny, stunned. Their dilated eyes fell on the man on the floor, their jaws quickly joining the unconscious hoodlum.
"What the hell just happened?" Someone in the crowd blurted out under his breath, his wide eyes shaking. "How did he... no, how did she take him down just like that?"
"Oh my god... my friends should see this," another person in the crowd pulled out his phone to record the situation.
"Hey! Can you pause that so we can see what just happened?" A young man turned to his friend, who had been recording since the beginning. But the friend was so stunned he ignored him, keeping his eyes on Penny and the remaining bodyguard whom Lily had bitten earlier.
Slowly, the crowdâs hushed comments and gossip filled the club until they became even louder than the music. Meanwhile, the bodyguard who had dragged Lily gazed down at his colleague, shocked at the sudden turn of events.
"What theâhah! That guy is all about size, but heâs got no substance! Heâs like a scarecrow!" Aiden blurted out mindlessly, trying to cope with the seed of fear Pennyâs action had planted. "Did you guys scam me??!"
Aiden looked around in panic, catching some of the men he had hired. âDid they actually scam me?â he wondered to himself. âI know theyâre hoodlums, failing in the shark loan business, but I didnât know they were this pathetic!â
Aiden clenched his teeth in irritation, thinking that the people he hired were losers. He shouldnât have saved money and looked for cheap services. His initial plan was to take Lily so he could talk to her. It wasnât like he planned to abduct her; he hired them just to help him... scare her a bit.
âDamn it!â Aiden anxiously ground his teeth, glaring daggers at the men he hired. "What are you still doing, idling like losers?! I donât care if you have to hit her to get past her! Sheâs in the way, and thatâs her fault."
Penny couldnât help but smirk, not needing to observe Aiden to know how anxious he was. She also didnât need to use many brain cells to figure out that these men, though dressed as bodyguards, werenât professionally trained.
"Goodness." She clicked her tongue, shaking her head and sneering at Aiden. "Lily is right. The only wrong path she took is yours. I thought she was blind, but I didnât realize she also seemed to have lost her other senses. How could she not smell the rotting trash on the side of the path decorated as flowers?"
Penny chuckled as Aidenâs face turned red, casting a look at the bodyguardâthe one Lily had bitten earlier. "If I were you, Iâd take a step back. If you decide to fight me, youâd end up just like him. Iâm sure you saw I donât just hit people; I hit them where it hurts the most, and they end up passing out in an instant."
