Chapter 927: Anywhere is fine
Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress
A part of Benjamin had always thought that his boss, Zoren, had this strange jealousy toward him â if that was even the right word. Initially, he thought Zoren was sending him away because he didnât want Benjamin to know about his relationship with Penny. But even after Benjamin learned about his boss and Pennyâs relationship, something still felt off.
Zoren kept sending Benjamin away, especially when Penny came to the office. Even on regular occasions when Zoren would come home, Benjamin noticed the shift. Before Penny, Benjamin would always drop Zoren off, but now, Zoren would send him elsewhere.
"You... like... who?"
"Uh..." Benjamin opened and closed his mouth, feeling a strange sense of dread creeping up his spine. His eyes shook, studying the shadow cast across Zorenâs face.
This didnât feel good.
"Miss Penny," he muttered under his breath, eyes fixed on Zoren. "Would I die if I jumped out of the window?"
Penny furrowed her brows and tilted her head, looking at Benjamin with surprise. "Is that a question? You wouldnât just die, but many of your bones would shatter."
"Then how come you werenât scared of falling just now?" he gasped, turning to her in disbelief.
"This bodysuit is soft and comfortable. I thought that even if I fell, Iâd get hurt but wouldnât die."
"..."
"What are you two doing...?" This time, Zorenâs voice sounded closer. When the two looked back at him, he was already a few meters away. "... on the floor? While one of you is confessing her feelings?"
"Haha! Sir! Boss! Master!" Benjamin, who thought he wouldnât be able to get up again, jumped to his feet. He rubbed his hands and stood next to Zoren, a creepy, awkward smile forming on his face. "What are you saying? I just had to help Miss Penny because she was hiding from Second Brother. She hid in that window! See! Itâs still open! So when I pulled her in, we both rolled on the floor!"
Benjamin assessed the look Zoren was giving him, and it made him gulp nervously. "Sir! I swear itâs not what you think it is!" he shouted, surrendering to his fate as he slumped to his knees, his hands pressed together over his head. "I swear itâs not what it seems!"
"I know." Zoren tilted his head to the side, watching Benjamin slowly look up at him. "My wife wouldnât do that to me... at least, not with you."
"Ah?"
"Stand up, Ben," said Zoren, peeling his eyes from him and then settling them on his wife. The moment their eyes met, the corners of her mouth hooked into a sweet smile. "And leave."
Benjamin blinked, confused. He stared at his boss, who had seemed like he was about to punch and kick him earlier.
âWas I wrong?â he wondered to himself, frowning. âJust now, didnât he want toââ
"What are you still doing?"
Benjamin flinched when Zoren gave him another quick look. "Ah..." he laughed awkwardly and nodded. "Of course. Iâll leave you two alone."
With that, Benjamin dragged his feet toward the door. However, instead of going too quickly, he slowed down and kept glancing back at them. He narrowed his eyes suspiciously, only to see Zoren glancing back at him.
"Iâm going!" Benjamin yelled, jumping away and rushing toward the door. He needed just a few steps to reach it and shut it closed.
Once outside, Benjamin couldnât help but look back at the closed door. Placing his hands on his hips, a low hum escaped his throat as he gazed suspiciously at the door.
âI really thought he would get jealous,â he told himself. âIâve always felt like he was jealous of me for some reason, but he didnât get angry even when he heard Miss Penny tell me she likes me.â
He paused, recalling what Penny had told him before Zoren appeared. The gentle yet genuine smile on her face as she casually said she liked him caused his face to redden. He hadnât thought much about it earlier because of Zoren. Now that he had the time, he couldnât help but blush and cup his face.
"I knew it!" he giggled. The anger from earlier and the humiliation he had felt seemed to vanish. "Miss Penny always likes me."
With that thought, Benjamin unknowingly dragged his feet away, still cupping his face. What he felt was akin to a fan being greeted and interacted with by their idol for the first time. Penny was a goddess in Benjaminâs eyes, and this was the first time she had told him she liked him.
"I knew it!" he repeated, only to stop in his tracks and look up. "Wait a minute... does this mean... I am her favorite? Hihihi~"
---
Back in the classroom, Penny gazed at Benjaminâs back until the door closed. Her face twitched a little, and she shifted her eyes back to Zorenâs face. Her brows rose as soon as their eyes met.
"What is wrong with him?" she asked, purely out of curiosity. "Why is he reacting like thereâs something to misunderstand?"
Zoren shrugged. "He thinks Iâm jealous of him."
"Jealous of him?"
"Mhm."
"Huh? About?"
"You. He thinks Iâm jealous of him because of you."
Deep lines appeared between Pennyâs brows as she assessed her husbandâs face. "Are you not?"
"No."
"If thereâs smoke, thereâs fire. Iâm sure he has some basis."
"From what I think... itâs because I always send him away whenever youâre around."
Penny didnât answer immediately, staring at her husband. "Why would you do that? Iâd misunderstand too if thatâs what you do."
"Iâm sending him away because he disturbs... us," he explained, keeping it short and concise. "How can I kiss you and touch you if heâs lingering around? I donât want to taint his eyes."
"..." Her face contorted as she stared at her husband while he reached his hand toward her. "I think heâs old enough to see what adults see."
"The poor Benjamin is a virgin."
"Werenât you a virgin before this marriage too?"
Zoren blinked, part of him triggered by how casually she said it. "This classroom, the bathroom, the locker, or the gymnasium?"
"Huh?"
"Iâm asking you where you want to do it," he explained flatly, wiggling his brows and jerking his hand that was stretched to her. "You can choose the headmasterâs office for a little more privacy, but anywhere is fine."
"..."
