Chapter 962: Find them a good wife
Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress
[Old Pierson Residence]
"Oh, my dearest... come here with Grandma." Old Mrs. Pierson happily welcomed Penny into her home, holding her granddaughter-in-lawâs hand as she led her inside. Her steps were small and careful, but her aura and tone were like that of a child welcoming her favorite person to her home.
She was more excited than when her grandson would come to visit. Old Mrs. Pierson wouldnât even come to the door to welcome Zorenâonly for Penny.
Penny smiled lovingly, adjusting Old Mrs. Piersonâs hold so she could assist the old madam. Once they were seated, Old Mrs. Pierson gazed up to study Pennyâs face.
"Oh, my angel, have you not been eating well?" Old Mrs. Pierson cupped Pennyâs face. "Why do you look like youâve lost some weight?"
"Hehe. Grandma..." Penny chuckled, about to tell her it was probably because she was back to training. But before she could, Old Mrs. Pierson yelled,
"Does your husband tire you out so much?!" Her remark quickly caused Pennyâs face to twitch. "I already told him not to overdo it! Do it regularly, but with balance! Has he not been feeding you well as compensation?!"
Com... pen... sation?
"Grandma..." Penny laughed awkwardly, holding Old Mrs. Piersonâs wrinkled hand. "Itâs not like that..." but yes, if she were being honest, her marital routine wasnât exactly regular anymoreâit was more like a marathon! But Penny didnât want to cause trouble for her husband; he was behaving well.
"My dearest Penelope, if your husband isnât treating you well, let me know, alright? Iâll give him a beating!"
Penny smiled, studying how the Old Madam fumed, as if her own grandchild were bullying her. At this point, she felt like this was her own grandmother, not her husbandâs.
What a wonderful person.
"Grandma, how have you been feeling?" asked Penny curiously. "Are the medicines working?"
"Yes!" Old Mrs. Pierson cheered, lifting her hand to show Penny her guns. "My adorable Slater even comes here to join me in my exercise. He gave me a routine so I can live to be a hundred."
Pennyâs eyes softened, aware of Slaterâs visits to the Old Pierson Residence. After all, Old Mrs. Pierson would regularly call Penny just to talk to her, so she wouldnât miss her so much. However, it was clear that talking to Penny through the call and having her around was still differentâit was better.
"I see..." Old Mrs. Pierson nodded. "Grandma, do you remember our last conversation on the phone?"
"Hmm? Which one? Our temple visit to pray for your uncleâs marriage?"
Penny smiled in satisfaction. "Yes, that one."
"Haha! Of course! I even asked Mildred to find me some eligible women. I think I have the list right here." Old Mrs. Pierson happily released Pennyâs hand and reached underneath the coffee table.
Penny just watched the Old Madam, not offering assistance even if she wanted to. She just observed. To be truthful, Penny didnât care about the list of eligible women who could be a good match for Haines. She had already given up after trying to pair him with Ms. Sandford in the past.
Haines was like a rockâa gigantic rock at the bottom of the sea.
The only reason Penny asked the question was to check on the Old Madamâs progress or if her health was declining. Even though Old Mrs. Pierson was already past retirement age and should have retired from the Pierson family affairs, the reason for her retirement was concerning. The doctors who examined her hadnât found any issues.
Even so, no single test could diagnose dementia since she had only had one episode. It wasnât enough. Thatâs why Penny was intervening in hopes of slowing it down. So far, it seemed like Old Mrs. Pierson was doing well.
"Here!" Old Mrs. Pierson straightened up, placing a folder on the table. When Penny looked at it, her face contorted. It was a thick stack.
"I didnât know there were so many women out there who arenât married yet."
Old Mrs. Pierson laughed out loud. "This file includes younger women, from their late twenties to fifties, who prefer men around your uncleâs age. Mildred is good at this; sheâs done it with me many times in the past."
"..." Penny pursed her lips into a thin line, chuckling in defeat. "Aunt Mildred didnât seem like the type. Is she on the list?"
"Mildred is good at helping me find eligible men and women for marriage, but sheâs bad at choosing for herself."
"She and Uncle Haines might get along," Penny blurted out, and Old Mrs. Pierson suddenly stopped. Raising her brows, Penny slowly glanced at the Old Madamâs face. "Grandma, Iâm... joking?"
Old Mrs. Pierson clapped her hands, her eyes twinkling. "Youâre right! How did I not think of that?!"
"Uh..."
"Butler Hubert!" Old Mrs. Pierson yelled, making Butler Hubert, who had just entered the room with a tray of refreshments and snacks, flinch. "Get me Mildred Piersonâs profile. Iâll add her to this pile."
"Old Madam, you want... Young Madam Mildred in there?" Butler Hubert hesitated. "Are you sure, Old Madam?"
"Yes! Do it quickly! Penny will check the list. She told me she would help me convince Haines!"
"I did?"
"Yes!" Old Mrs. Pierson faced Penny again. "Goodness! How could you forget! The last time we talked, didnât you tell me that?"
Penny furrowed her brows, glancing up to jog her memory. After a second, her face crumpled as it seemed she had agreed while getting distracted. Her eyes then fell on Old Mrs. Piersonâs eager face, and she laughed awkwardly.
"Uhm, Grandma." She reached out to Old Mrs. Piersonâs hand, smiling. "I have another uncle, actually."
"Huh?"
"Heâs not a biological uncle, but he is like one to me. He helped my company grow while I was abroad."
"Oh..."
Penny chuckled awkwardly, knowing that if she were going to convince Haines, sheâd have to drag Wild into it as well. That way, Haines wouldnât be so mad. It wasnât just him, after all.
"He had a wife in the past, but they broke up a long time ago," she continued. "Heâs around the same age as Uncle Haines. It would be great to find him a partner as well."
Old Mrs. Piersonâs eyes twinkled, a little excited, as this only meant more work for her. "Penny, do not worry. Your uncles and even your brothersâIâll find them a good wife, just like you and Allison!"
"..."
