Chapter 983: autograph signing
Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress
Meanwhile, on Slaterâs side...
"Slater, what are you doing?" James leaned over behind Slaterâs chair, glancing nervously at the long line that had formed because Slater didnât want any of his dates to sit directly in front of him. Now, after hours, the line was getting longer instead of Slater having a constant hour-long date with each woman Old Mrs. Pierson had arranged for him.
Slater had his eyes closed, legs crossed, arms folded. When he opened his eyes, he sighed heavily and reached for the pen.
"Iâm ready," he announced, making James wince.
âOf course, youâre ready! Some of these ladies have been waiting for hours!âJames mentally groaned but quickly put a smile on his face. "Letâs start!"
As soon as James announced the start of the "date," the first lady in line quickly glided to the seat across from Slater.
"Hello, Slater," she greeted shyly, fluttering her eyelashes. "How are you?"
Slater smiled. "Good," he replied, extending his hand as if expecting something from the woman.
Her brows rose slightly before she hesitantly pulled out a small album from her bag. "Is it okay to get your autograph?"
"Of course." Slater nodded, smiling at her. "Name?"
"Billie."
"Okay... dearest Billie..." As if this were just an autograph signing, Slater wrote a short note on the album. Once he was done, he flashed her a charming smile. "Good now?"
"Thank you! Actually, I bought you something. Iâve always wanted to give this to you," the woman said as she took a small teddy bear from her bag. I hope you like it."
"Of course!" Slater accepted the gift gratefully, only to pass it to the security. "See you."
"Yeâyes~!" Despite spending just two minutes with him, the woman happily squealed as she vacated the seat.
The next woman in line quickly took her place. Unlike the first, she already had Slaterâs album and some posters, and even brought the latest magazine with Slater on the cover. She handed him a headband as a gift.
After that, the next woman came with baked cookies for him. And then the next one... and then the next...
James, who was standing not far from the table, shook his head. "Iâve never seen dating like thisâthis isnât dating at all!" he exclaimed to the side, but it seemed Slater and all his dates didnât think so.
"No wonder he waited this long," he muttered. "It seems he noticed that they were fans."
Another deep sigh escaped James, but he quickly admitted that this wasnât Slaterâs fault. After all, some of his dates had arrived early just because they knew who they were meeting. This was supposed to be a blind date, but Slater had mischievously asked James to leak the information.
Who would have thought so many of his dates were his fans?
"Now that I think about it... Slaterâs memory is quite amazing," James thought to himself, watching Slater sign an autograph for his next "date." "Did he know that his dates were his fans? Is that why he asked me to leak the information? Now that I think about it, Slater does have a good memory and remembers his fans well."
Just as James was pondering, his brows rose as the next woman sat across from Slater. Slaterâs expression changed from charming to stern.
"Huh?" James instinctively scanned the womanâs figure with his eyes, noticing that she wasnât holding an album, magazine, or even posters. âDid she... did she come here for a real date? Wait, was she here earlier? I didnât notice her before! But finally! A date! A real one! Slater, good luck!â
James blinked repeatedly, observing the woman. A black blazer was draped over her shoulder. Her short, straight black hair barely touched her high shoulders. Despite wearing black glasses, James could tell she was quite beautifulâher facial structure was delicate, and her features were well-defined.
"How sophisticated..." James whispered in awe. "Is she a celebrity? I donât think so."
If she were, James wouldâve known. After all, James was the CEO of one of the biggest entertainment agencies in Anteca. He wouldâve recognized such beauty if it existed. Although all of Slaterâs dates carried different types of beauty, this woman was of a completely different caliber.
Darting his eyes between Slater and the woman across from him, Jamesâs eyes twinkled. âSheâs pretty, and heâs handsome... wow. I can see their chemistry. After all, the reason Slaterâs better off doing solo projects and not teaming up with othersâeven in the movies heâs been inâis because his face tends to overshadow the other artists.â
There was no doubt that Slaterâs beauty was out of this world, as both his fans and James would agree. It was for this reason that Slaterâs team had decided it wasnât good for him to pair with anyone. Even in music videos, Slater wouldnât participate if there was a story because his partner would just end up as a backdrop.
Thatâs how pretty Slater wasâhe was even more stunning than most female artists and celebrities.
âI wonder what her name is?â James wondered to himself, only to notice that neither the woman nor Slater had spoken a word. The woman simply sat there, looking at Slater as if there wasnât a line behind her.
Slater, on the other hand, was the same. He simply played with his pen, skillfully spinning it around his fingers, his eyes scanning the woman across from him.
"You are... ugly," Slater blurted out intentionally, then smiled.
James: "..." His face contorted as he watched the womanâs reaction.
Meanwhile, everyone who had overheard Slaterâs comment couldnât help but glance at each other. Even those who were supposed to be on his dates felt a little self-conscious. If that woman was ugly in his eyes, what did that make them?
Surprisingly, the recipient of the comment just smiled. "Thank you." She then rose from her seat and reached for the bottle of water. She didnât open the lid but motioned as if she was about to splash his face with water.
"Splash..." she whispered, chuckling at him. "See you around, Slater."
Slater shrugged and watched her walk away. He didnât even flinch when she reached for the bottled water and made a gesture as if she was going to splash him with it. It was more like he said what he said just so she could leave.
"Huh?" James darted his eyes between Slater and the woman, furrowing his brows in confusion. "What in the world did I just witness? Whereâs the real date â itâs ending even before it starts!"
