Chapter 26
Alpha Asher
Read Alpha Asher [by Jane Doe] Chapter 26 â The morning came much too quickly, and I tossed in
bed debating on if I should simply beg for sleep to take me again.
My dreams had been a mess of confusion and longing. Alpha Asher plagued some of them, while the
corpses of Kanyon and Katie plagued the others.
My mind kept switching between lu*tful dreams of Alpha Asher, and horrendous nightmares featuring
Tyler and that same sickeningly sweet scent. Going back to sleep might continue my torment, but I
wasnât ready to start the day. The conflicting dreams provided little rest, leaving me tired and a little
irritable. Iâm sure it didnât help knowing Alpha Asher was still away. Parts of me I had tucked away for
good longed for Alpha Asher.
âWeâll get all the attention in the world when Alpha Asher comes back.â Maya rolled her eyes, âWe
might even d*e at his hands. Exciting.â
âOh quit brooding.â I huffed, âYou know as well as I do that we have to go to Haze.â
âOf course, for Breyona.â Maya nodded, âBut why the h**l do we have to meet up with the strange
person that wrote the notes?â
âTo find out what they know.â I groaned. âI thought we were on the same page about this.â
âWe were.â Maya nodded, âUntil I realized all of the ways Alpha Asher could k**l us.â
âI donât think heâd do that.â I shook my head.
âWell, that makes one of us.â Maya shrugged, âOne day youâre going to push him too far, and that day
is today.â
âWell, hereâs to making our last day on Earth a good one.â I smirked, pulling myself from bed with a
sleep moan.
âYour morning humor is impeccable, Lola.â Maya snapped.
âThank you.â I grinned, âJust wait until I get some coffee in my system, it gets even better.â
I took a quick shower and threw on some clothes. It was only ten in the morning, giving me far too
much time to contemplate todayâs events.
Grandma already had breakfast steaming in a pan, causing my empty stomach to roar to life. I plopped
down at the kitchen table and looked around for my Dad.
âHeâs still asleep.â Grandma called out before I could even ask, âEverythingâs been taking a toll on him
lately.â
I frowned, âI can imagine why.â
âThingâs will get worse before they get better.â Grandma sighed, âAlways does.â
âItâs too early for your infinite wisdom, Grandma.â I smirked at her, digging into the steaming plate of
food she placed in front of me.
âIt is never too early for my infinite wisdom, thank you very much Lola.â Grandma scolded me whilst
handing me a steaming cup of coffee.
âToo early for my brain to process what you could possibly mean.â I chuckled, my mouth full of food.
âThink too hard and youâll give yourself a headache.â Grandma snickered, earning an incredulous look
from me.
If witcheâs existed, Grandma would definitely be one of them. Her love for herbs and nature plus the
fact that she always knows things she shouldnât make her the perfect candidate as a witch. It was
nearing impossible to hide anything from her, especially when I spent the entire year in her cottage.
She always seemed to know what I was up to before I did.
âSo, when is Alpha Asher returning?â Grandma asked, her tone innocent and nonchalant.
I choked on the piece of sausage in my mouth, guzzling some steaming coffee to wash it down. My
stomach lurched and I gave Grandma a pointed glare.
âHow did you know he was gone?â I grumbled, sounding much too similar to my Dad.
âOh, I didnât.â Grandma shrugged, âYou just confirmed it now.â
I was beginning to think Alpha Asher shouldânt have trusted me with the information to begin with.
âWhat made you ask?â I grumbled, eyeing my sausage warily.
âYou seem more stressed.â Grandma shrugged, âFigured something happened with him.â
âYou canât tell anyone heâs gone.â I sighed, âI wasnât supposed to tell anyone either.â
âTechnically you didnât tell me anything, dear.â Grandma shrugged, going about cleaning the kitchen.
âI donât think Alpha Asher cares about semantics.â I rolled my eyes.
âI donât plan on telling anyone.â Grandma continued about her day, âDonât want you to get in trouble
again.â
At the last part of Grandmaâs words, she shot me a knowing smile making me pale. If she was trying to
chase me from the house, she was most certainly succeeding.
A knock at the door saved me from Grandmaâs knowing eyes. I loudly sighed with relief when Breyona
appeared from behind the front door, a confused look on her face.
âBad morning?â Breyona chuckled.
âNot at all.â I shook my head, giving Grandma a hard look.
âWant some coffee?â Breyona shrugged, pulling me out the front door.
I didnât bother mentioning that I already had some. Grandma was clearly trying to get me to leave the
house, which I would happily oblige. Her knowing gaze made me squirm, making me wonder how
much hidden information was swirling around in that head of hers.
Breyona and I decided to walk to the cafe â as it was pointless taking her car.
We swung by Masonâs house and grabbed him, waiting a few minutes for him to get dressed.
âExcited for tonight?â I smirked at a somewhat nervous looking Breyona.
âExcited.â Breyona nodded, âPetrified.â
âPetrified, why are you petrified?â I shook my head, a low chuckle coming from my lips.
âItâs different now-a-days.â Breyona frowned, âPeople arenât scared of rejecting their mates. They just
do it.â
âI donât think heâll reject you, Breyona.â I frowned, shaking my head. âI donât think thereâs a man alive
who could be that stupid.â
âTylerâs alive.â Breyona noted.
âOkay, so there is one man alive who is that stupid.â I nodded, âBut Tylerâs not your mate.â
âThank the Goddess.â Breyona fake gagged, making me giggle.
The three of us walked down to the cafe in the middle of town. Town was somewhat busy this morning,
many people were strolling around without much to do. There was still that air of tension, but things
were a little calmer.
We had to wait a few minutes to get our coffeeâs, standing in the long line that led out the front door.
Two faces from my past approached us, and I nearly forgotten Ethan and Isaac even belonged to this
pack.
âSo we hear youâve been quite busy, Lola.â Ethan chuckled, his voice annoying and taunting.
Breyona didnât bother turning around, she simply called out from over her shoulder. âf**k off, Ethan.â
âOuch, that hurts Breyona.â Ethan shook his head, his hand over his chest as though heâd been
wounded.
âHey, Lola.â Isaac nodded.
Isaac had always been the quieter one of the bunch. From what I heard, he had found his mate over a
year ago. I hadnât a single clue if they stayed together or not. Isaac never talked about her, seeming
almost angry that he even found her in the first place.
âHey.â I nodded, tight lipped.
While I moved on from the past, that didnât make me friendly with these two. They were the ones to
encourage Tylerâs stupid and downright verbally abusive behavior.
âBreyona.â Ethan grinned cheerfully, and I already knew what was coming. âWhen did you get
so..curvy?â
âYou really think you have a chance, donât you?â Breyona cackled, nearly crying with laughter.
âCanât blame me for trying.â Ethan shrugged, turning his attention on me. âChelseaâs been saying some
interesting things about you.â
âHavenât we already learned Chelsea talks out of her a*s?â I lifted my eyebrow, staring at him deadpan.
âShe does.â Ethan shrugged, âDoesnât mean the rumors arenât interesting.â
âAlso doesnât mean you need to come bother us.â Breyona shrugged, âAnd yet here you are.â
âDid you really k**l Kanyon and Katie?â Ethan grinned, âThatâs tough, even for you.â
âDo you think I k****d Kanyon and Katie.â I rolled my eyes, grinding my teeth together.
âHey, anythingâs possible.â Ethan shrugged.
âI donât think you k****d them.â Isaac shrugged, looking uninterested in the conversation.
âThanks.â I grunted, giving Isaac a short nod.
âIf you want someone to blame, blame your old best friend.â I shrugged, âItâs not my fault heâs obsessed
with me.â
âReally?â Ethan smirked, âBecause last year you were pretty obsessed with him.â
I rolled my eyes, âPeople change. Is that so hard for your pea brain to grasp?â
âPeople rarely ever change.â Ethan shrugged, âJust stating the obvious.â
âIf you say so.â I huffed, walking around Ethan and Isaac.
Ethan was still as insufferable as ever. It wasnât surprising he was feeding into the rumors swirling
about Katie and Kanyonâs d***h. If only they knew how much the rumors hurt their family members,
maybe theyâd actually give a sh*t.
âI donât know who your next target is, but maybe you can off Chelsea next.â Ethan cackled, âMight help
get rid of the rumors going around.â
âLittle sh*t.â Maya snarled, and I felt my body whip around.
âNot the coffee!â I hissed at Maya, when a new idea popped into her head.
âOf course not.â Maya snickered, âYour idea was so much better.â
My fist flew forward with all the strength Maya had, which was quite a bit. My lips turned up in a smile
as my knuckles connected with the soft flesh of Ethanâs throat. A loud squealing gag came from
Ethanâs mouth as his hands flew up to grab his throat. Heâd heal within the next hour or two, but it was
still satisfying and he definitely had it coming.
Mason was the first to burst into laughter, followed by Breyona. Even Isaac had a smirk forming on his
face.
âThanks for the advice, Ethan.â I shrugged, turning away. âHope your throat feels better.â
