Chapter 30
The Daring Billionaire’s Wife
Chapter 30
Vanessa
Dominicâs question catches me completely off guard and it takes me a moment to respond. Is he being serious right now?
Ladmit that there was that one time in the car when he told me to watch my tone after I talked back and I was actually a little intimidated, but right now, I find this completely ridiculous and Iâm not going to stand for it.
I move closer to where he is but stand on the other side of the table. âAre you seriously asking me that question right now?â My tone is dripping with disbelief.
âYes, so answer me.â He tilts his head. âWhere were you?â
I canât help but scoff right now. âI donât remember ever questioning your whereabouts for as long as Iâve known you.â
âItâs not my fault youâve never asked.â
âAs if you would actually tell me.â
âStop avoiding the real question here. I called you several times but your phone was off. Where were you and who were you with? Was it Frank?â
âWhat? Donât be ridiculous. Why would you even come to such a conclusion?â
âThen explain yourself to me.â He crosses his arms.
1 part my lips to respond but it takes me a while as I wonder why he mentioned Frank. Is it because of what happened at the hospital?
ot let this go on any further, I sigh deeply to compose myself. âFine, if it really means that much to you. I went to see my father.â
To not let
His facial muscles relax a little bit. âYour father?â
âYes, itâs as simple as that.â Without looking down
n at the small shopping bag in my hand, I take out the pink bear and hold it right on the side of my face. âI had something to get off my chest so I went with this.â
He clears his throat, drops his crossed arms and looks away. âFine, then weâre done here.â
My tone is firm as I shake my head. âLetâs get something clear right now, weâre not supposed to meddle in each âNo, weâre not done here.â My otherâs private lives. Thatâs what we agreed on. I let you do as you please with Carmella because itâs none of my business. Starting now, you wonât question my whereabouts.â
sly pokes his cheek as he scoffs at me without facing me.

Certain Iâve made myself clear, I head to the elevator, my steps a little rushed. I guess this ridiculous confrontation really got to me.
âWalt,â he says!
says from behind me, his voice commanding
I stop in my tracks and look over my shoulder. âDo you have something more to say?â
âWhy do you think I told you to wait?â
There he goes, being rude to me just because he lost the argument.
âFine, what is it?â I sigh.
Chapter 30
âMy family wants us over for dinner tonight. Sophie will be there, too.â
Dominicâs sister is usually so busy that knowing sheâll be there brightens my mood. I even speak to myself but Iâm a little too loud.
âIâm glad I get to spend some time with her, I wonder how she managed to find some free time from her busy schedule:
âHow the fuck should I know?â He shrugs.
I roll my eyes at him. âI wasnât asking you.â
âWhatever, we leave at 6 p.m. so be ready by then.â
Dominic
Itâs almost time to leave and Iâm all dressed up in my new suit. As I stand in front of my mirror to put on my necktie, I fail a few times and sigh in frustration, and I know it has nothing to do with the necktie itself. I canât stop thinking about what happened with Vanessa earlier.
Now she thinks Iâm questioning her whereabouts because I want her all to myself. Thatâs absolutely not true. I just wouldnât want her to end up with Frank. But now that I think about it, I shouldnât have gone that far. Why didnât I just call him when I arrived here and didnât find her?
Despite my actions, she was right about one thing we had agreed to never meddle in each otherâs private lives. Sheâs free to do as she wants, just like me. Thatâs why Iâll remind myself of that from now on
Finally getting it right with my necktie, I head to her bedroom door and speak to her from there.
âItâs almost 6 p.m. so you better be ready to go.â
âUhâ¦.could you please just give me two more minutes?*
I scoff as I take a step back. Iâm not even surprised that sheâs not ready.
âFine, but only two minutes.â
While I wait for her in the hallway, I keep wondering what kind of shoes sheâll have on. They better be something that wonât lead to me carrying her back home tonight. I refuse to do that again.
When her bedroom door finally opens, I turn around to face her as she approaches me and I subtly bite my lip. Sheâs in a long peach dress thatâs tight in all the right places and accentuates her bust, narrow waist and wide hips. She doesnât even notice me staring because sheâs rummaging through her handbag
As soon as she looks up at me, I glance at her feet. Sheâs in some low block heels, which should be just fine.
âYou better not feel any discomfort in these heels,â I warn her.
âI wonât. Letâs just go.â
Once weâre in the elevator, I stand right behind her, my eyes glued to my phone screen as I share dirty messages with my babe
Just then, Vanessa flips her hair a little too hard and it whips my jaw, making me look up from my phone with irritation. Though my intention is to give her a warning and that she should be careful with it, words escape me when watch her throw her head back as she runs her fingers through her hair. Itâs such a pleasant sight to see.
As my eyes travel down the length of her hair, they get stuck on her lower half and once again, I subtly bite my lip. No matter how hard I try, I

canât stop looking at her ass, which looks so curvy and round in her dress.
Wait, what am I doing? This isnât right. She means nothing to me, which is why I shouldnât be staring too much. Actually, I shouldnât be staring
at all, but how could I not do that when sheâs right here and her figureâs so accentuated?
The moment the elevator opens, I take the lead so I donât have to keep looking at her curves.
As the ride to my parentâs home begins, weâre both on the same seat but thereâs a wide space between us.
The silence lingers on for as long as I have nothing to say to her.
But just then, she speaks first.
âDominic?â
âWhat is it?â My tone is laced with irritation.
âThereâs something important I need to tell you before we arrive.â
