Chapter 156
The Adorable Twins and Their CEO Daddy
While she was talking with Hodge, Eliana kept in touch with Nana on the phone.
Nana heard their whole conversation and immediately realized that something was wrong.
âItâs time! Guys, get going!â she ordered. âYou must catch Hodge!â
Nana stood up and rushed out, taking several strong men with her.
A waiter carrying a large tray of coffee appeared at the door, blocking their way out.
Nana couldnât stop in time.
âLady and gentlemen, your coffee⦠Ah!â
âFuck!â
Nana slammed into the waiter and knocked the coffee off of the tray and onto the heads of the strong
men.
The only exit was blocked. The scene dissolved into chaos.
âIâm sorry!â
Nana struggled quickly to her feet and rushed for the door.
She ran right into another person; it was Eliana, who was chasing Hodge.
âOuch!â
The impact knocked both of them to the floor.
The men had recovered from being soaked with coffee and finally caught up with Nana. They stopped
sharply, narrowly avoiding stepping on the two women.
Eliana felt dizzy. There was only one thought in her mind.
âDamn it! Hodge!â she shouted.
During the chaos, Hodge had fled to the road.
A Volkswagen stopped in front of him.
By the time Eliana got to her feet, it was too late.
All she could do was watch Hodge jump into the car and speed away.
Maurice had been watching from the sidelines. His moment had finally arrived.
âCorbin, follow him!â
One coveted gains ahead without being aware of danger behind.
Maurice had been observing the whole situation in the cafe, and had already asked Corbin to guard
outside.
Corbin immediately stomped on the gas and pursued Hodge.
The two cars sped down the road.
âHurry up! There is a car chasing us!â
Hodgeâs heart skipped a beat when he noticed his pursuer.
The driver glanced into the rearview mirror and silently stepped on the accelerator.
âCorbin, whatâs going on?â
Corbin and Maurice were speaking on the phone.
âDonât worry, boss. Iâm a talented racing driver.â
With a confident smile, Corbin stepped on the gas again to close the distance.
Hodge looked back at the Audi coming up behind him. His heart felt like it would pound out of his chest.
The man in a floral shirt who was sitting next to him looked calm. âWhy are you panicking? Has she told
you where the ring is?â
âEliana tricked us. She didnât tell me anything. She didnât know where the ring is.â
Hodge looked upset.
âSo⦠you will be of no more use to us,â the man in the flowery shirt said coldly. He reached over and
closed his hands around Hodgeâs neck.
âAs the boss said, there can be only one end for useless pawns!â
Hodgeâs eyes widened in disbelief and he struggled fiercely.
The manâs strong hands were like iron pliers, almost twisting Hodgeâs neck.
Hodgeâs face turned red and contorted in pain. He couldnât breathe and felt that his throat was being
crushed into pieces.
If he couldnât free himself quickly, he would die.
Just then, their car crossed a bridge and another car cut in front of them.
The driver braked and both Hodge and the other man were sent sprawling forward.
The iron grip on Hodgeâs neck loosened. Hodge gasped for air and kicked the manâs crotch. The man
doubled over in pain.
Now!
Hodge pushed the door open and jumped out of the car.
Corbin was startled to see a figure leap out of the car.
Without meaning to, he swerved to avoid the figure.
Bang!
The Audi crashed into the guardrail of the bridge. The window shattered and the airbag deployed.
Corbin was thrown into the airbag and he fainted.
Maurice was still on the phone with him.
âCorbin! Corbin!â
Maurice raised his voice in desperation, but there was no reply.
