Chapter 158
The Adorable Twins and Their CEO Daddy
Was it Preston?
Elianaâs first thought was that the warm arms around her must be Prestonâs.
She raised her head and saw Mauriceâs handsome and cold face.
He was the last person Eliana wanted to see right now.
âMaurice, why was Corbin at the scene of Hodgeâs car accident?â
The question had been bothering her from the moment she saw Corbin.
Now that Maurice was here, she could demand an answer.
She didnât want to believe that Maurice was the one responsible for her parentsâ death, but why was
Corbin there? What on Earth had Maurice ordered him to do?
Elianaâs expression was cold, but her heart was burning with anger that threatened to set both her and
Maurice on fire.
Maurice was silent.
Eliana grabbed his collar in an iron grip.
âDid you plan all of this? You already knew my identity, but you didnât deliberately expose me. Do you
think itâs amusing to see me looking for evidence beside you every day? If Hodge hadnât told me, I
would still be in the dark. Maurice, how long do you want to play games with me?â
Maurice was flustered by Elianaâs rising hysteria.
He had never seen Eliana like this. She was like an erupting volcano in the form of a woman, or a glass
bottle vibrating at such high speeds that it was sure to shatter.
His mind was in chaos. He needed to explain. âEliana, calm down! Iâ¦â
Before Maurice could continue, the door of the operating room was opened and a doctor emerged.
Eliana immediately approached him. âDoctor, how is he?â
The doctor sighed and shook his head. âIâm sorry. Weâve done all we can. The patient has suffered
extremely severe injuries and he has fallen into a deep coma. It is unlikely that he will ever wake up.
You have to be mentally prepared. Treatment is not inexpensive.â
Hodge might never wake up?
Eliana staggered backward a few steps until Maurice caught her.
âMiss, are you a relative of the patient?â the doctor asked.
âNo, Iâm just a person who knows him.â Eliana shook her head.
âCan you help me contact his family? We need his family to sign the operation agreement.â
The doctor handed over the paperwork.
Eliana lowered her head. She knew that Hodge had divorced and his children had gone abroad. He
had no family at home.
âI will sign it.â
Eliana took the operation agreement and signed her name on it.
It was so funny. A few hours ago, Hodge had been her enemy, but now she was trying to help keep him
alive.
While Eliana was lost in thought, a nurse came over with the bill.
âThis bill is for Hodgeâs family.â
Eliana took the bill, then walked to the cashier and handed over her bank card.
âIâm sorry, miss. You do not have enough money on your card.â
Not enough?
Eliana had been so agitated that she hadnât even taken a proper look at the bill. Now she looked closer.
When she saw the huge number, her heart sank.
She couldnât afford such an expensive treatment.
âAre you going to pay or not? We donât have all day.â
The people in line behind Eliana began to complain. Eliana didnât know what to do.
âUse my card.â
A slender but powerful hand gave a black card to the cashier.
It was Maurice.
Eliana opened her mouth to refuse. But she couldnât. If this bill wasnât paid, Hodge would die.
After the bill had been paid, the two of them walked back silently.
Walking behind Maurice and staring at his silent back, Eliana couldnât help but sneer, âWhy did you pay
for Hodgeâs treatment? Arenât you looking forward to his death? If Hodge dies, then no one will know
what you have done, right?â
