Chapter 558
The Adorable Twins and Their CEO Daddy
Feeling inexplicably flustered, Eliana subconsciously raised her hand to cover Mauriceâs eyes.
âStop lookingâ¦â
At that moment, Maurice was hopelessly immersed in the agonizing memories of his past. But Elianaâs
voice was like a lifeline, pulling him back to reality and saving him from drowning in his pain.
Was she worried about him?
Maurice pulled her hand away from his eyes and pretended to be calm. âIâm not scared.â
Eliana pursed her lips. How stubborn was this man? Did he think that she was blind? He had no idea
how bad he looked just now!
However, she couldnât help but feel sorry for him.
Instead of exposing his lie, she said, âYouâre not scared, but I am.â
As she spoke, she moved closer to him, and threw her arms around Maurice.
At such a close distance, she could clearly see the truth: Mauriceâs face was ghastly pale.
He was just pretending to be tough.
Overwhelmed by the need to comfort him, Eliana hugged him tightly and continued, âIâm a little scared.
Maurice, can you just let me hug you for a while?â
Maurice gladly grasped at the excuse to hold Eliana in his arms, as if he was clutching at the last piece
of driftwood. The warmth of her skin and the scent drifting from her neck finally helped relax him.
They had gone to watch a horror movie, but the two of them seemed to have their own moment. On the
way back, they were much closer than before.
Soon, they arrived at Elianaâs apartment building.
When the car stopped, Eliana looked out of the window and broke the silence first.
âThank you, Maurice. I had a good time today. Iâll leave now.â
While speaking, she didnât dare to meet Mauriceâs eyes, and her whole face was flushed red. As soon
as she finished her words, she unfastened her seatbelt and got out of the car.
Maurice, who had just taken out a gift box to give to Eliana, was surprised to see that she was no
longer in her seat.
When he raised his eyes, he saw her standing outside the car, waving goodbye to him through the
window.
âBye. Be careful on the way,â she said with a smile.
Sitting in a stunned silence, Maurice put the gift box back.
Once again, he felt a stab of irritation.
Nevertheless, as Eliana turned around and went upstairs, he couldnât help but stare at her receding
back until he saw her disappear into the building.
It was late at night, and the street was quiet except for the sound of crickets chirping. Maurice leaned
against the seat, recalling the warm hug.
But he was soon interrupted by the sound of his phone ringing.
Once again, it was a call from Harriet.
What an annoying woman!
With a disdainful smile on his face, Maurice picked up the phone. As soon as he answered the call,
Harrietâs voice came from the other end of the line.
âMr. Moran, even if my uncle did make a mistake, how could you do that to him?â
âAll I did was break one of his hands. Itâs a small price for provoking me. Tell him that if he dares to do it
next time, I wonât be so lenient.â
With those words, Maurice curtly hung up the phone.
At this time, Harriet was visiting her uncle Kelvin in the hospital. Fuming at how abruptly Maurice had
hung up on her, she tightened her grip on the phone.
Maurice was obviously acting like this because he didnât take her and the Stone Group seriously at all!
Kelvin was lying in the hospital bed, sweating profusely because of the pain, but he still tried to added
fuel to the fire.
He complained tearfully, âHe broke my hand just for that little bitch, Eliana! Can you stand it, Harriet? I
wonât let this go anyway! I already told your mother about this. I wonât rest without getting revenge!â
As soon as Harriet heard Elianaâs name, the anger inside her turned into jealousy.
Eliana? It was that bitch again!
As long as Eliana was in the picture, Harriet knew that she could never get Maurice.
How could she let this go?
In front of Kelvin, who now considered Maurice as an enemy, she didnât mind letting down her disguise.
With unconcealed resentment and fury in her eyes, she looked so evil that it send a chill down Kelvinâs
spine.
âUncle Kelvin, you want to get revenge, right? Have you found out where Eliana lives now?â
Harriet swore to herself that this time, she would get rid of Eliana once and for all.
Lying down in her bedroom, Eliana suddenly sneezed for no reason.
Was someone thinking about her?
Could it be Maurice?
The memory of tonightâs date flashed through her mind, instantly bringing a smile to her face.
The date with Maurice reminded her of her beautiful school days.
With a sweetened heart, Eliana slept soundly that night.
