nowhere to be found.”

Maurice frowned at the message from Corbin.

Gerald was not at the place Earle had arranged for him. Where could he have gone?

Maurice’s hand tightened, holding his phone as he mulled over this predicament.

Soon enough, Eliana had picked up on his unusual mood.

He must be looking for help.

Eliana approached him and asked, “What’s wrong? Why are you holding your phone?”

“Nothing.”

Maurice quickly snapped out of his brooding and hid his phone behind him.

“No, something’s up. Let me see!”
