Chapter 1049
A Life Debt Repaid
Zoe and Jay enjoyed the great romance in the room throughout the day.
They were woken up by the alarm the next day.
Both of them had put their phones on silent mode and ignored the news. Although they knew that the effects were rather good at the scene, no one knew how the incident would end in the end. However, that seemed not to be their concern at all. They cared more about how to get a basketball team.
However, Zoe had forgotten to turn off her alarm, as she had previously set it for the shooting of the show.
She knitted her brows.
Though her whole body was greatly sore, she still forced herself to narrow her eyes and fish for her phone.
At that instant, Jay was also awakened by the noise. He was about to get up to turn off the alarm for her, but Zoe got it first.
She half narrowed her eyes to turn it off. When she was about to continue sleeping, she noticed quite a lot of missed calls on her phone.
After dwelling on it briefly, she casually checked on them.
The most recent call was from Cordy.
Cordy would generally not call Zoe so early in the morning because she knew that Zoe had the habit of sleeping in. At that moment, Zoe seemed to have regained her wits.
Noticing Zoeâs reaction, Jay asked hoarsely and nervously, âWhatâs the matter?â
âCordy called me several times.â While talking, Zoe called Cordy back. â Something must have happened.â
Jay also sat up in bed in that instant and got up to take his phone.
Cordy had called him too.
She failed to reach Zoe, so she would certainly call Jay.
It meant that something must have happened.
âI canât reach her.â Zoe looked at Jay. âDid something happen to her? Sheâs been in the capital all this while. I donât even know what sheâs doing there!â
âMaybe it wasnât her who got into trouble,â Jay said directly.
Suddenly, his expression became slightly solemn.
âI think something might have happened to the Levine family,â Jay stated before he called Cora.
He had at least ten missed calls from Cora.
Zoeâs heart skipped a beat, but she felt inevitably calm.
Suddenly, she felt that she could accept many things calmly.
âUncle Jay, why didnt you answer my calls?â The moment Cora answered the phone, she burst into tears.
âWhat happened?â Jay was aloof.
â My mom, she⦠sheâ¦â Cora stammered for a long while.
âWhat happened?â Jay became impatient.
âShe tried to kill herself!â
Jayâs expression changed.
The volume of the phone was loud, so Zoe could hear Coraâs words in the quiet space.
She looked at Jay in shock.
Nancy was such an arrogant person. How would she try to kill herself?
âHowâs her condition now?â After a brief panic, Jay questioned calmly.
âShe was rushed to the hospital, and theyâre still trying to save her now. Sheâs still in the operating room. Iâm now at the hospital. Uncle Jay, can you come? Iâm very scared here all alone. I donât know whom I should call. Hmmâ¦â Cora became desperate.
She sounded like her world had collapsed and there was no one she could rely on.
If something happened to her mother, she did not know how she could survive.
âIs it First Hospital in North City?â
âHmm.â Cora sobbed piteously while giving an answer.
âIâll come right away.â
Jay hung up the call, then got out of bed with difficulty and put on his clothes.
