Chapter 1101
A Life Debt Repaid
Both Cordy and Sean stayed in Patrickâs ward to keep him company.
They both waited in silence for him to wake up.
Then, after a long while, Patrickâs eyelids seemed to twitch.
Sean quickly noticed and straightened himself as he stared fixedly at the other man.
Cordy sensed his reaction in turn and noticed that Patrick was showing signs of waking up as well.
She quickly got up, leaned toward him, and whispered into his ear, âAre you awake, Patrick?â
Patrick simply felt light-headed and opened his eyes with great difficulty to find his vision blurred.
It took a while for him to focus and find Cordy.
He tried to move but found himself very limp.
Moreover, he barely moved when he winced in pain. âOof.â
âDonât move!â Sean suddenly snapped, his voice stern.
Patrick turned toward him.
Cordy did the same and could not help telling him, âHe just woke up, Sean, and heâs hurt. Donât shout at him.â
Sean pursed his lips, but stayed silent.
Patrick seemed to remember what happened just then as well and rasped,â Iâm not dead?â
âDonât talk like that,â Cordy said mildly. âYouâll live another century.â
Patrick could not help grinning-his sentiment for Cordy was only too obvious in his eyes.
âHow do you feel right now?â Cordy asked in concern.
âJust a little tired, and my body feels limp. My back hurts a little, but Iâm fine otherwise,â Patrick said miserably.
âOf course it hurts. The bullet hit you in the ribs and broke three-the doctors said that youâre going to be bedridden for a while.â
âThree broken ribs?!â Patrick exclaimed in agitation. âI wonât end up a cripple, will I?â
âYouâre afraid now? Werenât you a dashing figure when you took that bullet for Sean?â Cordy teased.
âHey, I canât think far given the urgentness of the situation,â Patrick said.â Itâs scary to actually think about it now.â
â But, really⦠thank you,â Cordy suddenly thanked him solemnly.
âFor what?â Patrick asked, staring at her in turn.
âIf Sean were really shot deadâ¦â Cordy was afraid to imagine it. âAnyway, thanks for saving Sean.â
âNothing wrong with saving an in-law,â Patrick smiled. âItâs what I should do. â
âYeah,â Cordy replied-they really should be less formal.
âWell, is there anything you want now? The doctors said that you have to stay here for observation after you wake up and not to feed you right away. Depending on the situation, you can eat after midnight,â Cordy said shortly.
âIâm not hungry, and I have no idea what I want for now. Guess Iâll just stay in bed.â
âThen, do you want to check your phone? I can hold it up for you.â Cordy gestured.
The doctors said that they should not let Sean move since they had just fixed his ribs, and it would be troublesome if they touched him.
