Chapter 1114
A Life Debt Repaid
John took a deep breath.
Just as he was about to ask his care worker to take him back to his room, he ran into Cordy and Patrick.
They must have been doing rounds around the hospital walkway and just happened to return.
Since he kept running into the âmummyâ, Patrick greeted him, âYo, brother. Having a stroll out here?â
John glanced between Patrick and Cordy, the latter staying silent.
âWait, you canât talk too? But your mouth isnât bandaged,â Patrick joked.
John pursed his lips. âYou probably wouldnât want to hear what I have to say.â
âReally? But your voice sounds nice.â
âIâm John Levine.â
Patrick was dumbstruck right thenâhe definitely did not want to hear that.
He stared at John in turn and wondered how badly hurt John was that he ended up looking like that.
Nonetheless, John said politely, âI wonât impose.â
He gestured at his care worker, who wheeled him away.
Patrick watched as he left casually and turned towards Cordy, frowning.â Did you recognize him?â
âYeah.â Cordy nodded and explained, âI visited him in his ward before, so I know what he looks like.â
In other words, he was the only fool here.
âLetâs go.â Cordy, however, was nonchalant about it-it was nothing unusual for a jester like Patrick to embarrass himself.
âBy the way, is that Nanaâs ward?â Patrick asked casually as Cordy wheeled him forward.
âYeah.â
âAnd they areâ¦â
â Are you interested in finding out?â Cordy raised a brow.
âNope.â Patrick shook his head.
âThen whyâd you ask?â
âI justâ¦â
âWell, Iâm not interested,â Cordy said bluntly.
Patrick smiled then-she was really over John, was she not?
It was like she had suddenly seen the light.
Still, he remembered something else. âBy the way, Sean hasnât been here for a while, has he?â
It had to be at least two weeks now⦠How heartless could he be?
Patrick saved his life. Should he not visit every other day?
âThe trial against the Lynd family is at a critical stage, and he has to attend to Cranston family matters by himself, so heâs busy,â Cordy explained on Seanâs behalf.
âReally?â
âWhat, you miss him?â
âNo way,â Patrick denied it immediately. âIâd rather he never come and bother us.â
Cordy smiled and thought nothing of it.
A month later, Sean finally visited when Patrick was getting discharged.
Sean quietly packed up Patrickâs belongings without a word, but he appeared very tired even after a month.
Was he that worn out?
Before Patick could ask, however, Cordy asked in concern, âYou looked like youâve aged a century.â
âBeen busy and havenât really rested,â Sean said nonchalantly. âEverythingâs packed. Can we go now?â
âMore or less.â Cordy nodded.
âWait, are we going to Cranston Hall?â Patrick asked.
