Chapter 1382
A Life Debt Repaid
Marvin was left ashen faced with frustration in his ward, with Ryan relentlessly goading him. âSamâs supposed to be an adult, but he doesnât care how others feel at all! Others notwithstanding, heâd come here just to upset you while youâre in the hospital. He really isnât improving even after all those yearsâ¦â
While Marvin got more frustrated the more he listened, Lindsay quickly tried to calm things down. âCut it out, Ryan.â
Ryan put on a scornful look instead. âItâs not like I want to say it. Heâs just such a disappointment!â
âCut it out,â Lindsay repeated, a tinge of impatience in her voice this time.
Ryan could tell that much and pursed his lips as he kept quiet.
âI just spoke to your fatherâs physician, and heâs fine for now with no issues,â Lindsay said then. âHe just needs rest.
Youâve been busy too, so you donât have to stay here. I can take care of him.â
âAre you really fine, Dad?â Ryan asked in concern.
âIâm much better.â Marvin nodded. âIâd be discharged if it wasnât for your mother being a worrywart.â
âNo, you shouldnât-your health is more important, so donât worry about work. Just rest up,â Ryan told him.
âOkay.â Marvin nodded.
âIâll be going, then. Call me if anything comes upâIâll come back to visit whenever Iâm free.â
âYeah. You take care of yourself too,â Lindsay told him.
âYou never have to worry about me,â Ryan said, insinuating that he was different from Sam since he would never stray out of line.
After sending Ryan off, Lindsay returned to find Marvin still scowling.
He looked up at her and said, âGive me my phone.â
âFor what?â she asked, since she had put it away so that he would rest properly instead of worrying about work.
âI want to know how things are going,â Marvin admitted. âIâm worried about leaving the company in Samâs hands even if Quinn is with him, and weâre in the midst of a crisis.â
Lindsay stayed silent and thoughtful just then.
Thinking that she was hesitant, Marvin quickly said, âDonât worry-it would be for less than ten minutes.
You can take it back after that, and I wonât worry about Saunderia after that.â
âDear.â Lindsayâs expression suddenly turned solemn. ââDonât you think weâre prejudiced against Sam?â
