Mandy had no choice but to leave, gritting her teeth even as Jay looked on.

The fashion gala began with the celebrities taking to the red carpet according to an arranged sequence.

Even Linda was surprised by Zoe’s determination, and she was actually pleased–she had to speak up for Zoe so many times, since Zoe had every right to throw her weight around.

As such, the crew had to leave and report Zoe’s words to their higher–ups.

After a long while, Linda’s phone rang with a call from her boss.

“What?!” she exclaimed shrilly. “Why should we let Mandy Jessop take the stage after Zoe?! Does her name even hold weight in showbiz?!”

“The organizers called, saying that Jessop Corp was pressuring them. It’s a shame, but Mandy was born important and we can’t afford to provoke her,” her boss replied. “Just try to calm Zoe down–tell her that I’ll treat her to a nice dinner after this, that I owe her one!”

Linda certainly could not ask for anything else since her boss had said that, and she grumpily put down her phone to tell Zoe, “The boss says we do it anyway.”

After she did a round on the red carpet, Mandy soon appeared at the entrance, smiling smugly. Once she entered, she slid beside Zoe, pausing beside her and saying spitefully. “I’m so sorry, Zoe. I didn’t want to take your spot, but I was feeling a little sick. You don’t mind, do you?”

“I don’t,” Zoe smiled faintly. “I mean, am I supposed to bite a b*tch after it bites me?” Mandy’s face fell.
