A Life Debt Repaid By Cheng Xiaocheng Chapter 203
A Life Debt Repaid
Nonetheless, Cordy was glaring coolly at Bryson.
She considered him no more than a passing acquaintance and did not expect him to be such a creep.
âAnyone who can attend Levine Venturesâ anniversary celebration tonight is either rich or powerful!
Bryson continued smugly.
âSo?â Cordy asked in return.
âSo Iâm above the rest!â Bryson snapped angrily, his voice getting ever louder.
Cordy smiled sardonically-this was genuinely amusing.
âAm I not here?â she asked.
Bryson was taken aback, but since he could tell that Cordy was mocking him, he quickly tried to puff himself up with a sense of accomplishment. âYouâre just benefiting from your connection to Sachs Enterprises. On the other hand, I was personally invited.â
âIn that case, do you see a single member of the Sachs family around here?â Cordy asked.
It was not only the Sachs either-the Jessops were nowhere to be seen, and they had reason to be invited given their status in North City.
And if invited, they would be here very early, let alone be missing.
every And yet, no member of either family was anywhere to be found in the banquet hall. They would definitely not be upstairs either, since the majority of guests were staying on the first floor, which was more suitable for socializing.
Would those two families who loved socializing so much miss out on such an opportunity?
If anything, not being invited was the only reason they were not here.
As for why?
Cordy was very much sure that it was Johnâs personal intervention.
The thought warmed her heart further.
At the same time, Cordyâs words reminded Bryson of the fact he had not seen the Sachs at all.
Moreover, he had been here for a while, and there was no chance he missed them.
However, he was not about to let up, and he kept coming with excuses as he continued to debase Cordy. âWhat are you getting so smug about?! You just happened to catch some hype after winning Solo Show. Thatâs why Levine Ventures begrudgingly invited you-once your hype fades, youâre nothing to us!â
âYouâre really a man of double standard, Mr. Zimmer.â Cordy sneered. âYou keep boasting as if itâs natural, while scolding me for being smug while I never said a word. Have you never been acknowledged by others? Are you really that eager for others to fawn over you?!â
âCordy Sachs!!!â
âI donât have time to waste on you. As you will, Mr. Zimmer,â Cordy finished coolly and sidestepped him.
Brysonâs face contorted with rage from Cordyâs mockery, and he could not help intercepting her again.
This time, Cordy scowled, clearly angered this time.
Nonetheless, Bryson continued his grandstanding without a care. âLet me put it this way, Cordy Sachs-
Iâm an executive member of Levine Ventures, and my position holds weight in this company. If youâre not that stupid, youâd know how many enterprises in North City desire a partnership with Levein Ventures, and that they must respect us even as they operate their business. A measly company like your Starstream Group must show us due diligence if you want to establish yourself!â
âYou mean, show you due diligence,â Cordy laughed, actually feeling amused in Bryson just then.
âWe happen to know each other and are distantly related,â Bryson reasoned smugly. âIâm not that cold-
be nice and show me respect, and I can let you operate comfortably in North City.â
âAnd what do you think I should do?â Cordy asked, her smile getting wider since she just spotted a certain man standing behind Bryson.
âWell, you see, our blind date has been pleasant. I was just too busy to ask you out on another date, and that is my bad. However, it is destiny that we meet again today, which is why Iâd like us to start dating, and if you prove suitable, I can even marry you,â Bryson said, as if he was hard pressed.
Cordy said nothing and merely kept smiling.
