A Life Debt Repaid By Cheng Xiaocheng Chapter 23
A Life Debt Repaid
Noel checked the time, but it was only 3 PM. âIn another couple hours.â
âCanât you leave early?â Mandy Jessop was clearly upset. âIâd like you to go shopping with me.â
Noel appeared slightly hesitant.
In the past, she could just leave work without a word since her father would not say a thing.
But now, Cordy had taken control, and Noel was worried she would notice and use it as an excuse to harass her.
Even so, she had even less reason to upset Mandy. If she wanted to marry Kyle without issue, she cert ainly needed his sisterâs favor After weighing her options, Noel agreed to it anyway. âIâll be right there. Where are we going?â
âRadiant Global.â
âBe there in twenty minutes.â
Hanging up, Noel drove to the mall.
Meanwhile, Cordy was drafting a design in her office when her phone rang too.
She gave it a casual glance but eventually put away the draft and answered it. âMr. Levine.â
âWhen will you call me something else?â That familiar voice was ever deep and magnetic.
âWhy would you like me to call you? Levine? John? Or do you have some nickname I donât know about ?â
John did not expect her to be so agreeable. He spaced out for a moment before he chuckled. âThe way you say all that almost makes no difference, ex ceptâ¦â
âExcept what?â
âDarling.â
His tone was calm and mesmerizing.
While Cordy was speechless, he said, âItâs alright. Take your time.â
As if he did not mind.
Cordy was pursing her lipsâhe was certainly thickâskinned.
Ignoring his flirting, she asked directly, âHow can I help you today?â
âAre you free right now?â
âNo.â
âDicky is looking for you.â
âLook, Mr Levineâ¦â
âHave you forgotten about the 17th?â
âItâs just the 15th,â Cordy said, even checking the calendar as she replied.
âThe 17th is an important event, and everyone attending should dress grandly for the occasion. If itâs convenient for you, please help me get Dicky a tuxedo and try it out to see if it fits. I canât make it becau se I have an international teleconferenceâ
He took a pause after saying all that, and added, âWalter would be driving Dicky over to you. Theyâll be
arriving soon if there are no delays. Iâm counting on you.â
Having sent Dicky over without giving her a chance to say no, he hung up after telling her everything.
Cordy took a deep breath and maintained her composure.
She saved her draft, turned off her computer, and picked up her handbag to leave her office.
She had just arrived downstairs when she saw Walterâs car waiting at the front entrance.
Richard Levineâs little face was basically pasted against the car window, his round eyes lighting up with excitement when she saw her arrive.
âMommy!â
The crisp, tender voice was genuinely a remedy for the soul.
Cordy could not resist hurrying to the car Fine!
While she disliked Johnâs overbearing nature, she missed Richard since it had been half a month since
saw the boy.
They soon arrived at Radiant Globe, the premier mall in North City.
Cordy held Dickyâs little hand and made a beeline for the boutique.
However, they immediately ran into Noel and Mandy the instant they arrived, who were chatting and pic assistantâs introductions âI thought you didnât like John Levine. Why would you dress so grandly for his grandfatherâs birthday?â N âWhy would I dress up for him? Iâm just dressing up for myself!â Mandy said smugly. âAnd turn every hea âYouâre beautiful, and your figure is stunning. Everyone would definitely be watchingâ¦
Before Noel could finish flattering Mandy, she turned and noticed Cordy holding a little boyâs hand and s
