A Life Debt Repaid By Cheng Xiaocheng Chapter 240
A Life Debt Repaid
âLet me send you to the hospital,â Cordy offered.
She had driven her car to the police station while Kyle was brought there in the police car.
No matter from which perspective she looked in, she should give him a ride.
âNo need for that. Itâs just superficial wounds and theyâll be fine in a couple of days.â Kyle shook his head. âItâs very late now. You should head back soon.â
âYou should get them checked and have a peace of mind,â Cordy insisted.
She just did not want anything bad to happen.
âThank you.â Kyle hesitated for a moment before agreeing to it.
Both of them sat in the car.
Cordy drove while Kyle sat in the front passenger seat.
âI didnât expect you to know how to drive,â Kyle commented, âIâve never seen you drive a car before.
âI used to be too busy to drive,â Cordy said frankly.
Kyle looked downcast with a tinge of guilt in his eyes. âIâm sorry Cordy, I used toâ¦â
âI donât wish to talk about the past.â Cordy cut him off mid-sentence.
She did not think that Kyle would suddenly change in character, and she had no energy to watch him go on acting.
âWhy were you looking for me today?â Cordy went straight to the point.
Kyle pursed his lips.
If he were to look at Cordy calmly and without prejudice, he had to admit that Cordy was a very smart woman whom he would not be able to lie to.
He sighed and said, âYou probably know about Jessop Corpâs plight right now.â
Of course she did, given that they were in the same industry.
Previously, Jessop Corp had been trying to hype up its brand popularity by leveraging the power of the media. They spent truckloads of funds on advertisement space, which not only ended up ineffective, but also drew tons of flak. Their stock prices went on a sharp decline which, coupled with the multiple sponsors who previously began successively withdrawing their investment, was bound to send Jessop Corp on the verge of bankruptcy.
âI was looking for you not to ask you for funds-I know that it isnât easy for you to single-handedly run Starstream Group and that you have limited funds too. I just heard that Starstream intends to launch brand collaborations with other brands. Jessop Corp is considered an old-time brand in the fashion industry, and as someone who has worked in Jessop Corp for so long, you should know clearly that putting all things aside, Jessop Corp has very mature operations and management systems in placeâ¦â
Kyle rambled on and turned to see a cold look on Cordyâs face. âI wish to cooperate with you.
âI wonât consider working with Jessop Corp.â Cordy rejected him flatly.
âI can give you the best priceâ¦.â
âIt is precisely because I have worked at Jessop Corp that I know that Jessop Corpâs management system isnât mature, but outdated and conservative instead. It can no longer keep up with modern marketing strategies. Whatâs more, Jessop Corpâs current brand design doesnât meet my requirements.
Brand collaborations are done for mutual benefit. Collaborating with you. will only be a burden to me.â
Cordy Said mercilessly.
âI can change,â Kyle said agitatedly, âWhen you were previously at Jessop Corp, didnât you suggest for me to reform myself? I thought too highly of myself back then and was recalcitrant. Now, I finally know that I was going in the wrong direction. I can change right away. In terms of design, we are indeed weaker in that, but we can build on our support and Iâll do all I can to fulfill all your needs.â
âKyle, if you truly understood me, you should know very well that Iâll never choose to work with you.
Things between us ended the moment we broke up, and weâd never have any further interactions from then on.â Cordy stopped the car right outside the hospital entrance and turned to look at Kyle. âWeâre here.â
Kyle clenched his fists.
Cordy was so cold-blooded it was scary.
He knew that Cordy was not easy to talk to but he did not expect her to not budge at all.
He was almost groveling at her feet, yet Cordy did not give in at all.
He gritted his teeth, knowing that he had no ability to stand against Cordy and had no choice but to open the car door and get out.
Just then, he suddenly flinched in pain.
He had clearly tugged on his wound.
Cordy pretended not to see it.
She turned around and walked into the emergency department, staying by Kyleâs side as he did a full-
body check-up. She also paid his medical fees, stayed with him until his wounds were all treated, and made sure that he did not have any internal injuries before leaving the hospital with him.
When they walked out of the hospital, they saw John standing under the moonlight.
