A Life Debt Repaid By Cheng Xiaocheng Chapter 385
A Life Debt Repaid
Quinn was left staring at Ryan, unable to react.
He continued to explain, âMy superiors also arranged it so that I could stay at North City indefinitely, so I wonât be going abroad. I might be traveling to the headquarters in the capital occasionally, though.â
âThatâs good. Youâd be working close from home,â Quinn replied with a small smile.
âItâs late, Ryan. Get some rest,â she said softly.
ââ¦Okay,â Ryan murmured, refraining from saying what he intended to say.
Quinn returned to her bed, but she couldnât sleep despite her fatigue.
All sorts of messy thoughts would appear in her mind even if she closed her eyes, leaving her annoyed.
She hence stared at the ceiling until daybreak, and washed up to go to work like she usually did.
The rest of the family were at the dining table and having breakfast.
Syd Collins-the girl Ryan brought along-was there with them, but Sam wasnât since he usually woke up past noon.
âIâm so sorry for the misunderstanding. I thought youâre Ryanâs girlfriend.â Lindsay was smiling.
Still, she would much rather that to be the case-she may support Ryanâs career, but she would like to see him start a family soon too.
âIâd like that, but Ryan really isnât biting. But you have nothing to worry about, maâamril do my best to win his heart,â Syd smiled in turn.
Having spent more time abroad than locally, she was much more open- minded and forthright in nature.
âReally?* Lindsay smiled.
âStop it,* Ryan suddenly said rather sternly. âYouâre just twenty-lâm too old for you.â
âBut I like older men,â Syd said stubbornly, and Ryan gave up since he had no comeback.
Quinn was there with them, quietly eating her breakfast.
Afterwards, Lindsay pulled Quinn aside and asked, âWhat did Sam say last night?â
âHeâs resistant against the idea,â Quinn admitted.
âThat useless boy,â Lindsay muttered under her breath. âTheyâre both my son, but heâs such a far cry from his brother.
Quinn remained silent, while Lindsay told her, âSorry for the trouble, Quinn.
Iâll have a heart-to-heart with Sam about this.â
âOkay.â Quinn smiled faintly. âIâll go to work now.â
However, just as Quinn stopped outside and was ready to get in her car, Ryan suddenly showed up and asked, âCan I hitch a ride?â
Quinn spotted Syd behind Ryan, who smiled in turn, looking just like a child.
âIâd like to take a stroll around North City with Ryan,â she said. âI heard the cityâs been developing well, even better than some metropolises abroad.â
âOkay.â Quinn nodded, and rode shotgun while a chauffeur took the wheel, having taken Cordyâs advice.
Along the journey, Syd was chattering incessantly, although it wasnât at all noisy for Quinn.
She was just lamenting a little that she was getting further from that age where she could do anything she liked.
The chauffeur took them to a luxury mall in the city first, before sending Quinn to Saunderia.
Quinn worked like she usually did, but she could not resist texting Zoe when she had the time.
