Chapter 539
A Life Debt Repaid
The man replied stubbornly, âI donât know.â
Pow!
John punched the man squarely in the face right then, turning the already bruised face bloody.
âIâll ask again. Where did Jessica take my son?! Iâll kill you, believe it!â John threatened, his veins bulging viciously right then.
âIn this line of work, you live or you die. Kill me if you want, Iâll never betray my employer-Argh!â
John punched him viciously in the face again, leaving him with teeth- gritting agony.
âWhere is she?!â he bellowed, strangling him just then.
Being taller than the average man, he had the height advantage even though he was skinny now.
He looked down at the other man loftily, his sharp glare bursting with bloodlust. âWhereâs Jessica?! Tell me!â
âIâd rather die than talk,â the man grunted with much difficulty as John started to strangle him!
Breathing was becoming increasingly difficult, and the man was starting to suffocateâ¦
But he was not giving in at all!
âJohn!â
Cordy suddenly called out loudly, horrified to see John almost killing the man.
She had been waiting outside, but there was just no way to still her heart.
She soon heard the scuffle, but Randy stopped her before she could enter.
He and his men went ahead, and Cordy could not stop herself from following them after they were gone from sight⦠only to be greeted by such a shocking scene.
If the flashlight from the phone did not shine on John, she would never have known that he was attempting murder.
It was against the law, and she did not want to lose him over something like that.
Even so, her call did not bring him to his sensesâhis fingers were pressing even harder just then.
The manâs face in turn paled, clearly at his limit.
âJohn! Please let go of him!â Cordy cried, throwing her trembling form against his as she hugged him from behind. âI didnât ask you to kill anyone!
What would happen to me if you do?!â
Johnâs body stiffened, a hint of rationality restored from Cordyâs warmth and sobbing.
His eyes seemed to regain focus, and he saw that he almost killed the man.
It turned out that he was not that calm, and he had just vented all his rage on that man.
His fingers relaxed, and he finally released the man.
He started to hack violently, his face turning flushed as he barely escaped death.
âIâm asking you againâwhereâs Jessica?â John asked viciously.
âI wonât talk!â The man refused to betray his employer even after his close shave with death.
âRandy,â John said then.
âYes, Mr. Levine?â
âMake him talk,â John ordered coolly. âBut donât kill him.â
In other words, anything goes as long as the man was not killed.
âYes, sir.â
With his orders issued, John turned around toward Cordy and saw that she was still sobbing, almost hysterical.
He should never have shown her his savage side.
âIâm sorry.â He apologized to her for his impulsive behavior.
Cordy shook her head.
