Chapter 934
A Life Debt Repaid
âDonât you think the Lynds would set a trap at John and Nanaâs wedding?â Cordy asked.
Sean realized with a start and quickly said, âThatâs definitely a perfect chance.â
Cordy, however, turned silent, and Sean frowned.
Realizing why in an instant, he asked, âYou want to stop the wedding?â
âYeah.â She never hid anything from Sean.
âThat begs the question, can you stop it?â Sean asked.
Cordyâs face fell, while Sean made himself very clear. âIâm not trying to rain on your parade, but given current circumstances, you have no chance of beating Nana.â
âBut what if I do?â Cordy asked.
âThen weâll just have to wait for opportunities,â Sean said with understanding.
In other words, if she could stop the wedding, she would have his blessing.
âDonât you dare regret it.â Cordy smiled.
âI wonât,â Sean replied. âIâve been wanting John Levine on my side early on.â
âI know.â
âHe told you?â
âYeah.â Cordy nodded.
âHe really told you everything, huh?â
âHe loved me to bits.â
âThatâs in the past,â Sean reminded her.
âHe just lost his memories?â Cordy said a little loudly then.
Sean simply shrugged nonchalantly.
âBy the way, why would you want Johnâs help when thereâs such solidarity in the family? Or do you find there to be irreconcilable differences in the family?â Cordy asked in curiosity then.
The way John put it all those years ago, there had been strong internal conflict among the Crantsons, and that he was going to help Sean handle many family matters. After all, John more than proved himself when it came to toppling the Stuarts.
âNo,â Sean replied. âI just think that no one is really strong enough to lead and keep things together, and weâll scatter once Grandfather hands over leadership of the family.â
âYou doubted yourself too?â Cordy raised her brow.
âYouâve been with me for yearsâcanât you tell that Iâm not interested in taking over?â Sean said bluntly just then. âAnd Iâve told Grandfather much earlier that Iâm not going to do it.â
âWhy? You donât like one who doesnât pursue power.â
âDo I look that trivial to you?â
âWell, having desires is good, you know. It shows that you seek improvement.â
âAre you saying that I donât?â
Cordy was speechless. âAre you an Aquarius?â
âTaurus.â
âWell, youâre too amazing to be one!â
âJust trying to get you to lighten up.â Sean chuckled. âYour brow was almost knitting together there.â
Cordyâs heart skipped a beat-Sean had sincerely been good to her, and he was always meticulous enough to notice her mood even though she never liked letting it show.
âBack to the topic at hand,â Sean said, answering her question just now. âWhen I told Grandfather that I wonât take over family matters, his condition was for me to find someone exceedingly capableâone who could help the others in the transition.â
