“Don’t you think the Lynds would set a trap at John and Nana’s wedding?” Cordy asked.

Sean realized with a start and quickly said, “That’s definitely a perfect chance.”

Cordy, however, turned silent, and Sean frowned.

Realizing why in an instant, he asked, “You want to stop the wedding?”

“Yeah.” She never hid anything from Sean.

“That begs the question, can you stop it?” Sean asked.

Cordy’s face fell, while Sean made himself very clear. “I’m not trying to rain on your parade, but given current circumstances, you have no chance of beating Nana.”

“But what if I do?” Cordy asked.

“Then we’ll just have to wait for opportunities,” Sean said with understanding.

In other words, if she could stop the wedding, she would have his blessing.

“Don’t you dare regret it.” Cordy smiled.

“I won’t,” Sean replied. “I’ve been wanting John Levine on my side early on.”

“I know.”

“He told you?”

“Yeah.” Cordy nodded.

“He really told you everything, huh?”

“He loved me to bits.”

“That’s in the past,” Sean reminded her.

“He just lost his memories?” Cordy said a little loudly then.

Sean simply shrugged nonchalantly.

“By the way, why would you want John’s help when there’s such solidarity in the family? Or do you find there to be irreconcilable differences in the family?” Cordy asked in curiosity then.

The way John put it all those years ago, there had been strong internal conflict among the Crantsons, and that he was going to help Sean handle many family matters. After all, John more than proved himself when it came to toppling the Stuarts.

“No,” Sean replied. “I just think that no one is really strong enough to lead and keep things together, and we’ll scatter once Grandfather hands over leadership of the family.”

“You doubted yourself too?” Cordy raised her brow.

“You’ve been with me for years—can’t you tell that I’m not interested in taking over?” Sean said bluntly just then. “And I’ve told Grandfather much earlier that I’m not going to do it.”

“Why? You don’t like one who doesn’t pursue power.”

“Do I look that trivial to you?”

“Well, having desires is good, you know. It shows that you seek improvement.”

“Are you saying that I don’t?”

Cordy was speechless. “Are you an Aquarius?”

“Taurus.”

“Well, you’re too amazing to be one!”

“Just trying to get you to lighten up.” Sean chuckled. “Your brow was almost knitting together there.”

Cordy’s heart skipped a beat-Sean had sincerely been good to her, and he was always meticulous enough to notice her mood even though she never liked letting it show.

“Back to the topic at hand,” Sean said, answering her question just now. “When I told Grandfather that I won’t take over family matters, his condition was for me to find someone exceedingly capable—one who could help the others in the transition.”
