âIâm not sure,â Emmanuel replied, shaking his head with a bitter smile. âPeople often say that Iâm straightforward and not skilled at handling emotions.â
âWell, I used to appreciate your straightforwardness. A man like you wouldnât deceive a woman,â Queenie said, still unwilling to accept Emmanuelâs response. She lightly bit her lip and asked, âDid you ever consider marrying me when we grew older?â
âNo,â he replied directly, his expression indifferent.
She felt extremely disappointed, even desperate!
However, Emmanuel continued, âI didnât think about those things back then, and I wouldnât have dared to. Iâm not deserving of you.â
âYou are deserving! Who says youâre not?â Queenie exclaimed angrily, slapping the ground. Her chest rose and fell.
She liked to wear tight clothes, so much so that her white clothes seemed like they were about to burst.
âAll our classmates in the class said so, your brother said so, and even-â
Suddenly, Emmanuel pointed in another direction and said, âEven Shane said so!â
Shane had been following Red all along and never expected to be called out just after finding Emmanuel and Queenie.
Queenie stared at Shane, angrily questioning, âWhy did you all say that back then? Were you jealous of Emmanuel?â
âUhâ¦â Shane immediately felt a bit embarrassed. With Emmanuel right in front of him, his survival instinct kicked in, and he quickly said with a laugh, âHaha, right! We were just jealous of Emmanuelâs luck Such a beautiful girl, so only I-â
However, halfway through, he felt something was off and quickly looked at Red, anxiously explaining, âRed, listen to me. Liking someone when we were kids doesnât mean we would still like that person when we grow up!
Red blinked innocently as if to say, âWhy are you nervously explaining to me?â
âForget it; letâs not disturb Emmanuel and Queenie. Letâs go over there and chat!â Shane, with a strong survival instinct, quickly pulled Red to the other side.
Seeing this scene, Emmanuel was also quite relieved. It seemed that his junior had a chance at a relationship. Master Drunkard wouldnât have to worry anymore!
âEmmanuel, did you hear that? They were just jealous. You are deserving of me. Why didnât you confess to me back then?â Queenie expressed her regret, her emotions running high.
Yet, Emmanuel didnât share her excitement. He simply said, âQueenie, youâve already had more than two boyfriends. Is it meaningful to bring up our childhood now?â
Queenieâs tears instantly fell, her nose slightly red as she said, âI found a substitute because I didnât know when you would come back! Donât you know? The person Iâve always liked is you!â
In the heat of the moment, she tightly embraced Emmanuel.
Her body was soft, as if without bones, and carried a captivating fragrance.
However, Emmanuel remained indifferent!
After a while, he gently moved Queenie away from him and looked at her with a smile, saying, âQueenie, thank you for being honest with me today! And thank you for liking me, but Iâm already married!â
It wasnât that he didnât believe Queenie, but believing or not believing wouldnât make a difference.
He had never considered marrying her before, and he certainly couldnât marry her in the future.
No matter how much they talked about it, they could only be friends.
âI donât mind!â Queenie said excitedly. âI can be your mistress. I donât need a title as long as we can be together in the future.â
Emmanuel looked at her, unable to detect any insincerity.
He had no idea that this woman had liked him so much before.
âQueenie, please donât say that!â He firmly refused. âI donât understand romance, let alone love. Itâs already difficult for me to take care of my wifeâs feelings, so I canât spare any love for other women!â
She wailed and said coldly, âEmmanuel, are you truly heartless?â
âIâm not heartless!â Emmanuel said straightforwardly. âI firmly believe that we can still be good friends.â
âGood friends?â Queenieâs eyes lost focus as she coldly smiled. âThey say that wives and lovers are meant to be cherished, while good friends are meant to be betrayed!â
He smiled helplessly, thinking to himself, âIf you insist on thinking that way, what else can I say?â
