âWhat do you mean by âsort of? Your attitude is insincere!â Mackenzie was genuinely annoyed by this guyâs behavior, and on the brink of walking away.
âMackenzie, I admit I messed up this time, so Iâm taking you out for dinner. Please donât be mad, okay? Iâm worried you might skip meals again and end up with stomach issues!â Emmanuel reached for her hand quickly.
Mackenzie paused, turned away, and chuckled before regaining her composure.
Considering this guyâs genuine concern for her well-being, she decided to let it slide this time.
âMackenzie, what do you say?â Emmanuel eagerly asked.
She gave him a stern look and replied, âFine, letâs go.â
Relieved, Emmanuel nodded and went downstairs to get the car.
Their silent treatment ended within a day, and both husband and wife felt relieved. Neither of them wanted to drag out the
silent treatment.
Especially Mackenzie, who was carrying this guyâs child. Continuing the silent treatment was just causing her unnecessary stress. Thankfully, this guy knew how to make amends, or else sheâd be lost.
As the couple wrapped up their dinner at a restaurant, nearing nine oâclock in the evening, Mackenzieâs tension began to ease. She had been contemplating sharing some good news with her companion when a call from Miss Lexi interrupted her thoughts.
âWhat? Beatrix is missing? She hasnât contacted me all day!â Mackenzieâs expression turned to concern.
Seeing Mackenzieâs worried look, Emmanuel dialed Beatrixâs number.
As expected, the phone was off.
Mackenzie ended the call and heard Emmanuelâs phone notification. She said, âLetâs hurry home and see if sheâs there!â
âOkay,â Emmanuel agreed, sensing the seriousness.
The couple rushed home. During the drive, Emmanuel learned about the situation. Beatrix had disappeared after acquiring the Hadley factory. If she wasnât home, there was a good chance Aidan was involved.
Upon returning home, the coupleâs worries intensified upon seeing the house dark and deserted.
âBeatrix! Are you here?â Mackenzie called out, realizing she wasnât there, she looked to Emmanuel for answers.
Emmanuel understood her silent question and called Ashton.
After hearing about the situation, Ashton was pleased. âEmmanuel is increasingly relying to me.â Ashton thinks to herself.
First, he could repay the favor of helping her solve cases before.
Second, she could legitimately request martial arts training from him.
âItâs not been 24 hours of disappearance, we canât file a case procedural case yet. But Iâll investigate Aidan privately. Please be patient,â Ashton said before she took action.
Emmanuel hung up, feeling a mix of emotions. While he appreciated Ashtonâs help, his main concern was Beatrixâs safety.
At the same time, he had to reassure his wife.â Mackenzie, try not to worry too much. Beatrix is a Quillen and no one would dare hurt her.â
He refrained from making threats, knowing itâd only worry his wife more.

He refrained from making threats, knowing itâd only worry his wife more.
Unaware of Mackenzieâs pregnancy, he couldnât bear to see her distressed again, especially when Mackenzie looked so tired.
Mackenzie nodded, now she could only do three things:
First, wait for Ashtonâs response.
Second, mobilize underlings to search for Beatrix.
Third, stay home and wait for her sister to return or contact her.
Emmanuel stayed by Mackenzieâs side, and noticed a distinct change in his wifeâs demeanor, sensing she needed his care more than ever. Every moment away from her left him with an unsettling feeling in his heart.
Finally, just before midnight, Ashton called. âEmmanuel, Beatrixâs disappearance is almost certainly connected to someone named Tang,â she said. âHe denies all allegations but claims that if you want Beatrix to return home safely, itâs up to you!â
