“Mr. Quail, I’ve donated a significant amount of resources. Is it too much to

ask for a tracking system to ensure the supplies are reaching those in need?”

Mackenzie’s tone grew firm.

Seeing that he couldn’t simply push her away, Anthony resorted to stalling.

“Ms, Quillen, you’re adding to our workload! We’re already short on staff, and

you’re making things even more complicated.”

Mackenzie chuckled. “That’s perfect! I’ve brought my own team along. If

you’re short–staffed, they’re more than capable of stepping in. In fact, they’re

highly experienced, so there’s no need to worry.”

“Uh…” Anthony hesitated, clearly scrambling for another excuse,

Mackenzie’s eyes suddenly hardened, and she asked coldly, “Mr. Quail, are

you hiding something? If you keep stalling, I’ll have no choice but to expose

this mess to the public. Then you’ll be facing a nationwide backlash.”

Anthony was left speechless, trapped by her resolve. Mackenzie was not

someone to be trifled with. No wonder she’s managed to climb to the top of

the Nuthana Chamber of Commerce!

Unable to dismiss her, Anthony feared Mackenzie might see through his act.

He tried to excuse himself, but Rhett stopped in once again, leaving him with

no way out.

“Mr. Quall, we’re just trying to ensure the disaster relief efforts are honest and

fair. We won’t stand by and let the supplies be siphoned off by corrupt

hands,” Mackenzie said, her gaze sharp.

“Mr. Jidrus Abovos already told me that hardly any of the supplies have

reached Riverhaven. If this blows up, you won’t be able to contain the fallout.”

“Well… Um…” Anthony finally broke under the pressure and sighed heavily. “Ms.

Quillen, I’ve been forced into this! Those supplies weren’t stolen by me–they

were taken by bandits!”

“Bandits?”

Mackenzie’s brow furrowed, still not fully convinced.

Noticing her doubt, Anthony exclaimed, swear on my life, it’s true! If I’m lying,

may a terrible fate befall me!”

The way he spoke and the desperation in his expression made Mackenzie

believe there was some truth to his words, but she wasn’t fully convinced yet.

“If you were raided by bandits, why didn’t you report it? Are you just trying to

cover your own incompetence with excuses?”

“Report it? Report it to whom?”

Anthony and his staff sighed in unison, their frustration evident.

“Ms, Quillen, you’re not from the West End. You don’t know how things work

here!”

Anthony let out a long sigh and finally revealed the truth to her

“In the West End, the land is vast, and the population is sparse, Transportation

and communication are difficult, and there are more hidden gangs and

underground organizations here than you can imaginer

He paused for a moment before continuing. “The most notorious of them is

the Five Poison Sect. They’re the ones pulling the strings for all the gangs in

the West End. They don’t directly commit many crimes, but anyone who does

needs to pay tribute to them for protection.”

Mackenzie frowned at this information.

Lexi, skeptical, chimed in, “In this day and age, are you telling me there are

still bandit gangs like this? Didn’t the government crack down on them

already?”

“You think I’m exaggerating?”

Anthony was almost stamping his feet in frustration.” “The Five Poison Sect

has been holed up deep in the mountains of the West End. They have

hideouts all over the place! The Silvergate police tried to wipe them out twice,

and guess what happened?”

“Quit beating around the bush! Just tell us already!”

Lexi urged impatiently.

“Even though the police took down many members of the Five Poison Sect

and destroyed several of their bases, in the end, they all met a tragic death.”

Anthony sighed and further explained, “The first time, the police were

ambushed and wiped out in the wilderness. The second time, they came

back victorious but mysteriously died of poison later. Ever since then,

everyone has been terrified of them, and even the police don’t dare touch

them. Things have just spiraled out of control.”

Mackenzie had heard rumors like this before.

“If the police can’t handle them, why not send in the military? There’s no way

Mackenzie tightened her fists, her resolve hardening. “I’m going to find a way

to take down the Five Poison Sect.”

As she said this, Emmanuel flashed through her mind.

Without Emmanuel, she might not have had the confidence to make such a

bold statement.

Anthony Quail stood there, stunned.

Even the officials at the relief station looked at each other in disbelief.

“Ms. Quillen, if you can really pull this off, I’ll personally back you to become

the next Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce! And I’m not the only one-

Anthony was visibly excited.

Mackenzie simply nodded, not letting the praise get to her head.

“Mackenzie, Quintus and his hundred–man Blade Battalion will be with you

tomorrow morning. You should coordinate with Anthony and gather intel on the bandits who’ve been looting disaster relief supplies. Deal with them first.”
