Chapter 2125 Redemption
âAunt Laura. I get it! Just worry about yourself,â Claude e replied.

Her expression was calm and indifferent. She didnât share Lauraâs admiration for Magnus Zelinsky.
Magnus was undoubtedly intelligent, and she acknowledged his cleverness. But for her to be captivated by him? That was out of the question. Her type wasnât the scholarly kind.
âThatâs good to hear.â
Laura breathed a sigh of relief but then suddenly added, âIf only your dad were here. He was quite skilled in warfare, too. I wonder how heâs doing now?â
âDad?â Claudette asked, her curiosity piqued.
Unable to resist her daughterâs persistent questioning, and seeing as they had time to kill at the foot of the mountain Laura decided to share the story of Claudetteâs father, recounting his experiences and the intertwined history of the Lenoir and Zelinsky families.
By the time she finished, Claudette felt even more averse to Magnus. Even though Laura had emphasized that her fatherâs abrupt reassignment had nothing to do with Magnus, the fact that he was part of the Zelinsky family was enough to leave a bad taste in her mouth.
Meanwhile, Magnus had already changed into the Five Poison Sectâs uniform and put on one of their identity necklaces. He approached their car window.
Though Laura repeatedly told her daughter not to fall for Magnusâ advances, she was the one who helpfully rolled down the window to let them talk.
âClaudette, Iâm heading into the Five Poison Sectâs territory. Stay safe out here,â Magnus said with concern.
âAlright, good luck!â Claudette replied nonchalantly, offering no further words of encouragement.
Magnus smiled warmly. âWith a princess cheering me on, Iâll be unstoppable as the knight. Iâll crush the cult and restore peace to the West End. Itâs also part of my redemption for past mistakes.â
âSo, youâve done a lot of bad things before?â Claudette asked, following his lead.
âPerhaps they were bad in some peopleâs eyes,â Magnus admitted, his gaze resolute.
âBut I had my reasons for doing what I did. That doesnât change the fact that Iâve hurt many people- especially someone very important to me. I feel immense guilt for that. I just hope I can make up for the mistakes Iâve made.â
No one had ever told Claudette about her life before her memory loss, as they didnât want to cause her further pain. She had no idea that the person Magnus spoke of was her.
And Magnus had no intention of letting her find out either.
âA prodigal son who turns back is worth his weight in gold. Good luck to you, then.â
Claudette casually encouraged him. After all, he was about to risk his life for Mackenzie and for the people of the West End.

Magnus smiled faintly and nodded, leaving with satisfaction
His goal was simple to instill in Claudette the idea thaj even a sinner could redeem himself. If he succeeded, then maybe, just maybe, she wouldnât despre him so much when she eventually learned about his pasta
âMagnus, what did you say to my sister? Was it some kind of final farewell? Hahaâ¦â Quintus teased without any filter.
Magnus, having known him for years, wasnât bothered by his brash personality. With a calm smile, he replied, âIf I had to bid her a final farewell, it wouldnât bode well for you all, either. So, youâd better hope I come back alive.â
âFair enough!â
Quintus slapped his own forehead before suddenly growing curious. âMagnus, from what I know about you, youâre a sharp guy. You wouldnât risk your life for nothing. Charging into the Five Poison Sectâs lair without some sort of payoff doesnât seem like your usual style.â
Magnus didnât answer, nor did he repeat what he had just said to Claudette. Instead, he gave a brief command. âLetâs move. Mackenzie made it clear that once weâre inside, Iâm in charge. Donât try anything reckless.â
He understood Quintus well. Without Mackenzieâs orders, he would never follow anyone elseâs lead.

âFine, weâll talk more once were inside.â
Quintus bellowed loudly, âAssemble!â
The fortyâperson squad quickly gathered. Braving the howling wind and snow, they marched toward a checkpoint.
The checkpoint stood at the meeting point of two towering mountains, a breathtaking display of natureâs rugged beauty. Beyond the entrance, the only other path to the Serpent Altar was to brave the perilous, snowâcovered peaks.
The checkpoint itself consisted of solid stone structures, heavily fortified and wellâmanned by guards.
According to the intelligence obtained from Mauve Protector, if the guards pulled the alarm, reinforcements would flood out from the nearby base in no time.
âHalt! Who goes there?â
As soon as they approached, the squad leader of the guards stepped out with his men to question them.
âYou donât even recognize Mauve Protector?â Quintus shouted arrogantly, just as Magnus had instructed him to act.
The more overbearing he seemed, the less suspicion it would arouse.
The squad leader saw that Mauve Protector was being carried back on a stretcher and couldnât hide his surprise. In a cold tone, he demanded, âWhatâs going on here? Why is Mauve Protector so badly hurt?â
âHe was attacked by Mackenzie and her group!â Quintus answered, sticking to Magnus script.

âMackenzie? Is she really that formidable?â
The squad leader and his guards exchanged shocked glances. In their eyes, Mauve Protector was a force to be reckoned with, yet he had been so severely beaten. I was hard to believe.
âHaha, you bet she is!â Quintus boasted, unable to resist
âNot only is Mackenzie stunningly beautiful and incredibly smart, but she also has an unbeatable warrior named Quintus by her side. A man of unmatched valor and strength!â
He yelped in pain as Magnus pinched him sharply from behind. That was enough to make him finally
shut up.
The guards frowned, their expressions laced with suspicion.
Fortunately for the group, years of unchallenged dominance had made the Five Poison Sectâs members overconfident. Instead of conducting a thorough search, they hesitated.
Still, they seemed inclined to inspect further.
At that moment, Magnus stepped forward, holding up the token of the Central Protector. âMauve Protector is gravely injured. Let us through immediately. If he succumbs to the harsh wind and snow out here, can you bear the responsibility?â
As expected, the guards, outranked by Mauve Protector dared not take the risk. Startled by Magnusâ warning, they hastily let the group pass.
âCaptain, something feels off,â one of the guards muttered quietly after Quintus and his team disappeared beyond the gates. âOther than Mauve Protector, theyâre all unfamiliar faces. Could this be a trap?â
âTrap or not, it doesnât matter,â the captain sneered.
âI suspect they might be Mackenzieâs people too. But with just forty of them and no modern weapons, once theyâre inside our territory, theyâll never make it out alive.â
âHaha, true enough! No one would be that foolish. I must be overthinking it.â
The subordinate chuckled.
Meanwhile, having successfully passed through the checkpoint, the group entered the inner territory. Quintus, seeing no one around, grinned smugly. âMagnus, your plan worked like a charm. We actually slipped right in! These Five Poison Sect guys are nothing but a joke.â
âDonât get cocky,â Magnus warned sharply.
âTheyâre already suspicious. This is the most dangerous moment for us.â
