Chapter 2126 The Poisonous Snowy Mist

“They’re already suspicious?”

Quintus looked puzzled. “No way. Our disguises and performance were flawless. Who could’ve slipped up?”

Seeing him still so clueless, even looking back at the others as if to shift the blame, Magnus could hold his tongue, but Solana–a fiery–tempered ally–couldn’t. She lashed out, exclaiming, “Who else? Obviously, it’s you, the leader of this circus!”

“Me?*

Quintus pointed to himself, looking genuinely innocent.

“Are you that dense? Do Five Poison Sect members ever praise their leader the way you just did? And don’t even get me started on how you were bragging about yourself!”

Solana spat at him, mockingly repeating, “A man of unmatched valor and strength,’ seriously?”

“Well, I wasn’t wrong about that!”

Quintus scratched the back of his head sheepishly and finally laughed. He turned to Magnus. “Alright, Chief Strategist. What now?“,

Magnus analyzed calmly. “They let us in on purpose. They’re planning something. We need to halt immediately.”

“Halt?”

Quintus frowned, clearly perplexed.

The others, too, were curious about what plan Magnus had in mind this time.

Solana, in particular, had no strong feelings about him at first. But after seeing him repeatedly help Mackenzie retrieve treasures and offer brilliant strategies that felt almost like foresight, she couldn’t help but admire him.

Now, the moment Magnus spoke, her eyes lit up with anticipation. Unlike Claudette, she had a thing for brainiacs.

Magnus reached into his coat and pulled out a tablet. Bringing up a map, he explained, “These are aerial images I captured using a satellite before coming in. Aside from areas blocked by dense jungle, I’ve got most of the details mapped out.”

“You’re something else, man!”

Quintus looked at the photos and couldn’t help but praise Magnus. Even he, with all his experience, couldn’t have captured such images.

“Of course he is! Otherwise, how could we expect a guy like you, all brawn and no brains, to lead us in these complicated battles?”

Salona couldn’t resist firing back at Quintus.

However, Quintus was quite generous with women who shared his fiery temper. He laughed heartily and didn’t take offense.

Magnus ignored the praise and continued, pointing to the map. “Look here. After passing the checkpoint, there’s only one main road leading into the core area. There are many buildings in the inner area, which must house the innocent people who were abducted al forced to work as laborers. They’re spread out quite far!”

Everyone nodded in agreement.

“But here’s the critical point,” Magnus said, his tone turning serious. “Our goal isn’t just to pinpoint the Serpent Altar or the enemy’s main forces. Our first priority is to stay alive.”

Quintus and the others stiffened at the word.

“Exactly,” Magnus confirmed.

Then, he added, “Our reinforcements won’t arrive for another two days. Right now, we’re outnumbered and outgunned. Including our people inside and out, we’re barely a hundred strong. The guards suspect us already and will likely alert their higher–ups.”

As Magnus spoke, he gestured to several structures on the map. “If I’m right, these buildings are outposts of the Five Poison Sect. They can use them to coordinate reinforcements, ambush us along the mountain pass, or even release poisonous mists and venomous creatures to trap us. If we move recklessly, we’ll walk straight into their trap.”

The team instantly understood. Each of them gave Magnus a thumbs–up, their respect for him growing.

Solana, genuinely impressed, added, “With Mr. Zelinsky as our strategist, it’s like having a few extra lives in our pocket!”

However, Quintus raised a practical concern. “But staying here isn’t a solution either. If they suspect us, it’s only a matter of time before they attack us from both sides. Should we retreat now?”

“No.”

Magnus waved his hand. “We’ve worked hard to infiltrate this place. If we retreat now, re–entering will be nearly impossible. Instead, we’ll take the mountain trails. It’s unexpected, and they won’t anticipate it. Once our reinforcements arrive, we’ll coordinate a pincer attack from the inside and outside. That should be enough to crush the Five Poison Sect.”

“Mr. Zelinsky, you’re brilliant!” Solana exclaimed.

She gave Magnus another thumbs–up.

“Alright, let’s do it!”

Quintus was convinced by Magnus‘ analysis and strategy and agreed to follow his plan.

Meanwhile, outside the snow–covered mountains…

On a high hill, the four envoys braved the cold wind and snow as they looked down at the mountain below.

“Aora, Mackenzie is right down there, and the Wolf Warrior Unit is split in two. This is our perfect opportunity!”

Envoy Azure couldn’t help but speak up.

progress.

It was critical to know that the chairman still needed their help to return to Zovince and eliminate Emmanuel. They couldn’t afford to waste any more time in this wretched place.

“These are a special breed raised by Toad King, called Crimson Blood Toads. Their blood runs extremely hot, so they need to be kept in ice during the summer. But when it snows in winter? That’s their favorite

season!”

He continued with pride, “Their blood is lethally toxic. If it splashes onto your skin, it’s like molten lava. Even if it doesn’t touch the skin, their blood mixes with the snowy mist and creates a massive poisonous zone. Once inhaled, a normal person will die from poisoning in less than half an hour. Even highly skilled martial artists wouldn’t survive more than two days!”

“That’s incredible!”

Envoy Amethyst clapped her hands in excitement. “Aora, how do we use them now?”

Envoy Aora took out a crimson clay ball and smirked. “It’s simple. These Crimson Blood Toads are drawn to the scent of this red clay. Watch this.”

He wrapped the clay ball in snow, then threw it down the mountain, aiming for the area where Mackenzie’s camp was located.

As if on cue, the swarm of Crimson Blood Toads changed direction, hopping eagerly down toward the base of the mountain.

Envoy Aora laughed smugly.

Envoy Amethyst’s eyes were filled with ruthless determination, and her purple lips curled into a wicked grin. “That woman, Mackenzie, is far too arrogant. Marching her team straight into the Five Poison Sect’s territory? She’s practically knocking on hell’s door. She deserves whatever’s coming to her!”
