Chapter 2131 The Scattered Wolf Warriors
Finished
âWhatâs the plan now, Your Holiness? Command us!â Falconâs voice was tense with nerves and adrenaline. For the Wolf Warrior Unit, this was their first encounter with a battle of this magnitude since departing Dark Night Island.
âFire at will! Take them down!â Mackenzie commanded without a momentâs hesitation.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The machine guns roared to life, spitting bullets down the snowy mountain path. Cultists from the Five Poison Sect fell one after another, but the chaos was far from contained. Some used the smoke and confusion to slip through unnoticed, emerging from the snowbanks with startling speed.
To make matters worse, stray gunfire struck the venomous toads scattered across the battlefield. The creatures exploded on impact, spraying toxic green liquid into the air.
The sickly stench spread quickly, choking the soldiers and turning their stomachs.
âBlargh-â Several Wolf Warriors stumbled, gagging and retching as the foul smell clung to the air. Their focus faltered, and the risk of poisoning grew by the second.
âYour Holiness, we must retreat now!â Falcon insisted, his face showing grim.
Falcon wasnât known for being the most upstanding back on Dark Night Island, but his loyalty to Rhett had never wavered. Now, with Mackenzieâs safety in his hands, he wouldnât let her fallânot on his watch.
Mackenzie scanned the battlefield, her cold gaze assessing the situation. The decision to retreat was swift and resolute.
She knew what it meantâpulling back meant cutting off Rhett and Anna, who were still up the mountain pursuing the Great Four Envoys. Yet staying put would only spell disaster for the Wolf Warrior Unit. The enemy outnumbered them at least ten to one, and continuing the fight would be suicidal.
It was a hard call, but Mackenzie didnât waver. She couldnât afford to. Trusting in Rhett and Annaâs abilities to find their own way down, she ordered the retreat, unbothered by the thought of criticism later.
âAfter them! Capture Mackenzie Quillen alive!â
A booming voice echoed through the battlefield as a grotesque figure climbed onto a rock. It was the Toad King. His bloated, warty skin made him look more like a creature than a man. His long, slimy tongue flicked out as he barked orders, his eyes gleaming with twisted excitement.
âAbsolutely, Toad King!â the cultists yelled, surging forward to pursue Mackenzie.
The Toad King wickedly grinned as he watched Mackenzie retreat. Aora had shared everything about her -her status as the Saintess of the Holy Trinity. The idea of capturing her, drinking her divine blood, and consuming her flesh thrilled him with intense excitement.
Meanwhile, Lexi and her small team led Claudette and the unconscious Libby away from the chaos. Their initial plan to retreat through the rear quickly fell apart when more cultists appeared, blocking their way and compelling them to change direction. To make matters worse, Mackenzieâs group was also in the middle of retreating. In the confusion of battle, the two teams were separated, leaving Lexiâs group stranded on their own.

âWhat now, Lexi?â Claudette asked anxiously, struggling to keep Libby upright. To her, the situation couldnât get any worse.
As Laura watched Claudette, her thoughts began to wander. She couldnât shake the questionâWould this chaotic moment spark Claudetteâs memory? After all, Claudette had faced similar highâstress scenarios with Emmanuel due to their mutual passion for survival games. Could this instance finally evoke some recollections for her?
Lexi scanned the area, her mind racing. Years of working closely with Mackenzie had trained her to stay calm under pressure, but even she felt the weight of the situation. Finally, she pointed toward the Serpent stronghold checkpoint.
âWe have no alternatives. Weâll infiltrate and conceal ourselves there!â
Compared to the madness of the toad swarm and the cultists, the strongholdâs guards looked like the lesser threat.
Ten Wolf Warriors led the charge, gunning down several guards in seconds. Lexi and her team pushed through with the entrance cleared, dragging Libby along.
Lexi frowned, frustration clear on her face. âWeâre too slow with Libby. If we keep this up, theyâll catch us.â
It was a harsh reality, but Lexi understood what needed to be done. Her decisionâmaking mirrored Mackenzieâsâpractical and unflinching. At this moment, she knew they had no choice but to leave the unconscious Libby behind. Carrying her any further would slow them down too much, and the entire group risked being captured
Just then, the toads approached the stronghold. Unexpectedly, they stopped as if hitting an invisible boundary. They lingered on the outskirts, refusing to step inside.
:
âWhatâs happening?â Claudette and Laura whispered, bewildered.
Overwhelmed with relief, Lexi urged the team to continue moving, seek safety, and reconnect with Quintusâ team later.
Up on the mountain, Rhett and Aoraâs duel raged on. After an entire night of fighting, neither had gained the upper hand. Each strike and counterstrike was a test of strength and stamina, and Rhettâs endurance was beginning to show.
Yet the sound of battle at the base of the mountain distracted Rhett, breaking his focus.
Breathing heavily, Aora took the opportunity to taunt him, âLooks like my friend, the Toad King, has arrived. What now, Rhett? If your precious Saintess falls into his hands⦠oh, what a spectacle that will be!â
âD*mn it!â Rhett growled, fury flashing in his eyes.
As Mackenzieâs sworn Holy Guardian, he couldnât allow her to be harmed, Failing her would be a shame he couldnât bear. Without hesitation, he turned and sprinted down the mountain, leaving Aora behind
âOh, no, you donât!â Aora snarled, leaping after him for sneak attack. He sprang off a tree branch, his palm striking out with lethal force, aiming to end Rhettâs life in one blow.
Nonetheless, Rhett was ready. Despite his rugged appearance, his fighting instincts were razorâsharp. Anticipating the attack, he spun around midâstep and leashed a devastating counterstrike, sending Aora stumbling backward.

Aora wasnât foolishâhe quickly realized that pressing the attack would put him at a disadvantage. While he wasnât afraid of getting hurt, he knew Rhett was hurrying to leave. Taking advantage of that, Aora pull back to conserve his strength and focus on dodging Rhettâs strikes instead of clashing headâon.
Thud! Rhettâs strike landed with full force, powerful enough to shatter several trees around him.
Sensing Rhettâs intent at the last moment, Aora managed to evade the blowâbut not without consequence. The shockwave from the attack left him reeling, his insides burning from the impact.
If Rhett had chosen to finish him, it would have only been a matter of time. Yet, he didnât. Instead, Rhett abandoned the fight, spinning on his heel and launching into a desperate sprint down the mountain. Mackenzieâs safety was his priority, his responsibility- the very reason he fought and the greatest purpos that kept him alive.
At the foot of the mountain, the Toad King called out, âHahaha! Your Holiness!â
His voice dripped with malice as he drew closer; his grotesque form bounded after her with disturbing speed, like a monstrous predator closing in on its prey.
Though empowered by the Heart of the Sun, Mackenzie lacked the combat skills to defend herself or escape. The gap between them was closing fast, and soon, there would be nowhere left to run.
