After a long and busy day, Emmanuel waited for Ethan to finish work and return to the official residence.

Then, he headed back to his place, trying to contact Mackenzie, only to find that her phone was out of

service.

Even though Emmanuel had been preoccupied with many matters in Zovince recently, he still got reports from Eve about the situation in the West End.

He knew that Mackenzie had led troops into the Serpent Lair, and he couldn’t help but feel concerned.

Now that she was out of contact, his worry deepened.

Fortunately, Eve was still reachable.

“Emmanuel, Mackenzie took Rhett and Anna into the Serpent Altar to search for Quintus!”

“Mackenzie is so reckless!” Emmanuel couldn’t help but complain.

Yet, he also understood Mackenzie’s character, cool on the outside but deeply compassionate inside. There

was no way she would stand idly by if her companions were in trouble.

“Have the Five Poison Sect launched another attack?” Emmanuel continued to inquire about the battle situation.

“Emmanuel, The Five Poison Sect hasn’t shown up for two days and one night after being repelled!”

Hearing Eve’s report, Emmanuel frowned.

Though Mackenzie’s combat experience wasn’t lacking, his own experience surpassed hers by far.

He understood that the Five Poison Sect would not concede defeat so easily. Their current inaction likely meant they were planning something big.

Emmanuel knew that when enemies couldn’t win in direct confrontation, they often tried to disrupt the rear from his time fighting in the Northern Region.

Immediately, he thought of his son and urgently asked, “Who did Mackenzie leave behind to protect

Caden?”

Eve quickly replied, “Her mother, Felicity, is taking care of him, along with ten Wolf Warrior Unit soldiers and numerous bodyguards from the Quillen family in Yeringham. They are currently in a relatively safe and hidden location in Riverhaven.”

Emmanuel’s expression turned serious. After ending the call, he immediately summoned Sage to discuss

matters.

“Emmanuel, the national election is just four weeks away. This is the most dangerous time for Mr. Hale, especially since his public opinion poll ratings show a slight lead over the other two candidates!”

Sage, ever diligent, cautioned, “I believe the other two factions are bound to make moves soon. A storm

Hence, he ordered, “Sage, take your men and head to Riverhaven immediately. Bring my mother–in–law and son back to Zovincel”

He knew eradicating the Five Poison Sect wouldn’t be quick process, and he couldn’t let his son become a vulnerability for Mackenzie.

“Yes!” Sage departed promptly.

Just as he left, Nathan stepped into Emmanuel’s room.

“Emmanuel, the Savage Martial Saint has already defeated five supreme martial artists and even publicly declares that he will defeat one more each week, culminating in a final showdown at Divine Mountain.

There, he will challenge both Southern Lannister and the Northern Wolf Warrior. Emmanuel, you can’t just stay out of this!”

Nathan was visibly excited. As a martial arts fanatic whose skill lagged behind his ambition, he lived for such pinnacle battles.

“There’s even a betting company offering odds for each fight!” Nathan added with enthusiasm.

Emmanuel asked casually, “Let me guess, that betting company’s owner is you?”

“Wow, you really know me well! However, I’m just an investor, not the sole owner. Even I have to place bets myself!”

As an investor, he could only profit from the rake. As a gambler, he could bet on his favored fighters, which made watching the fights even more thrilling.

Then, Emmanuel asked for the odds and was surprised when he saw the match between Yorick and the Eight Supreme Grandmasters.

The odds were almost even, suggesting that the bookmakers considered both sides equally likely to win.

“Is the Zen Master really that strong?” Emmanuel asked.

Nathan replied eagerly, “Emmanuel, I’m sure you haven’t faced him before. He’s widely regarded as the last hope of his era, the strongest among the Eight Supreme Grandmasters. Some even say he’s stronger than Southern Lannister!”

Emmanuel chuckled. “Those people probably think he’s stronger than me too. You’re just being polite, aren’t you?”

Nathan burst into laughter. “None of that matters! What’s important is that he’s truly formidable. He’s been hailed as the old monk who protects the land.

“Back in the day, the Chapman family tried to recruit him, but he remained unmoved no matter what we offered. So, we had to settle for second best!”

Emmanuel nodded and curiously asked, “Have you seen his skills? How does he compare to me?”

Emmanuel knew Yorick’s strength likely exceeded his own. If Zen Master couldn’t bear him, facing Yorick would be even more perilous.

Emmanuel remembered Yorick mentioning something about that but didn’t know the full story.

Before he could ask, Nathan continued unprompted, “Emmanuel, I did some digging over the past few days. Yorick planned to assassinate President Barton but was lured to Divine Mountain, where several top fighters joined forces to take him down!

“Yorick was a serious threat given his immense martial prowess. He could have succeeded in assassinating Artemis, posing a constant danger if left unchecked!

“However, no one expected Yorick to survive the fall from Divine Mountain. Although gravely injured and with his power diminished, he managed to escape to Shoiya where he recovered. He’s back with a vengeance!”

Emmanuel nodded. The story was likely close to the truth eyen if it wasn’t entirely accurate.

He then asked, “Do you know why Yorick wanted to assassinate Artemis back then? His friend Mason wasn’t running for president yet, was he?”

Nathan smiled again. “I looked into that too. Word has it that a mysterious organization backed Yorick and Mason. For the real reason, you’d have to ask Yorick himself. Even I couldn’t find out more!”

Emmanuel didn’t press further, speculating that the mysterious assassin targeting Artemis three months ago was likely Yorick. Why hasn’t the truth behind such a major event been public yet?

Emmanuel suspected that the presidential election was shrouded in countless secrets. Unraveling the truth might shock the world.

At that moment, a servant approached Nathan, bowing and reporting, “Young Master, Ms. Veronica has asked you to return to the Chapman Estate. The Tanner family’s marriage proposal team has come again!”

Nathan frowned. “Again? How annoying! Just tell Veronica to send them away!”

The servant looked anxious. “That won’t work! Ms. Veronica said you must handle it personally!”

Nathan sighed in frustration.

“You should go check it out,” Emmanuel advised.

He knew Veronica well. There had to be a reason if she insisted on this. Perhaps this was something important or a setup to involve him in Chapman family matters.

As expected, they discovered the Tanner family’s marriage proposal entourage was unusually grand when Emmanuel accompanied Nathan to the Chapman Estate.
