Mackenzie smiled serenely. “Living requires faith, does it not?”

She continued, “My life is expendable. Eliminating the Five Poison Sect will enable my grandpa to secure the position of the president of the Chamber of Commerce and support Ethan in becoming the next president. I firmly believe that is the path to prosperity for the West End and Chanaea.”

Lady Rosa couldn’t help but feel a sense of respect for Mackenzie’s conviction and glanced at her master.

Isabella smiled faintly. “I respect those with faith, but is there a possibility that your faith is misplaced? Ethan may not necessarily be better than the other two candidates.”

“I trust my husband.” Mackenzie’s response was resolute, her gaze unwavering.

Realizing further debate would be futile, Isabella decided to play her trump card. “But, if you do not withdraw your forces, your child may die.”

“You vile woman!” Anna gritted her teeth, cursing. “Who would’ve thought that the renowned Maestro Moretti could stoop so low?”

Isabella ignored the insult.

Mackenzie found herself at a crossroads, torn between conflicting priorities.

“Ms. Quillen, to be honest, I greatly admire you. Unfortunately, our paths are irreconcilable. I have no desire to kill you or harm an innocent child. So, please make a wise decision,” Isabella said earnestly.
