“Mr. Gwain, did you succeed in your training?” Wyatt asked before anyone else.

“Hmph!”

Gwain didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he smirked arrogantly, letting out a cold snort, his posture exuding an exaggerated sense of dominance.

Then, without warning, he struck out with a single palm, shattering a massive tree in the courtyard from a distance.

“You son of a-“Yosef cursed under his breath.

Did you really have to destroy the tree I was standing on just to show off?

Forced to react, he leaped onto another tree to avoid falling.

“Holy cow!”

The Lannister retainers and cadet branch disciples erupted into cheers.

“Mr. Gwain’s power has reached an entirely new level!”

“That’s right! Breaking a tree from a distance… his internal strength has grown unbelievably strong!”

“Did you see that? Mr. Gwain has mastered the Dragon Tome! He’s now truly invincible in the martial world!”

As soon as Yosef left, Gautier arrived at the Lannister Estate.

The moment he stepped into the courtyard, he was greeted by a crowd fawning over Gwain, sounding just like the sycophantic followers of Zovince’s Branch Davidians.

Still, leaning on his cane and flanked by two elite guards left behind by Teddy, Gautier stepped forward with a respectful smile. “Congratulations on emerging from seclusion, Mr. Gwain!”

“Hmph, what are you doing here?”

Gwain’s arrogance had only multiplied tenfold.

And why wouldn’t it? His confidence stemmed from his martial prowess, and now that his skills had advanced while an entire crowd was singing his praises, it was nearly impossible for him not to be conceited.

Besides, he had long known that Gautier had deliberately used half of the Dragon Tome to bait him into fighting Emmanuel. And because of that, he had suffered repeated humiliations at Emmanuel’s hands.

But now, with his training complete, he no longer needed anything from Gautier–so naturally, his attitude toward him had turned dismissive.

“Theard you were coming out of seclusion today, so I came to offer my congratulations,” Gautier said, bowing despite his limp. “And to discuss a potential collaboration.”

“Collaboration? What collaboration?” Gwain asked, feigning ignorance.

“To kill Emmanuel, of course! To avenge Mr. Tanner, Hank Sheridan, and everyone else he has murdered!”

Gautier declared, gritting his teeth.

“What?! He killed Teddy Tanner too?”

“That b*stard really has no fear!”

The Lannister retainers broke into murmurs of shock and outrage.

“You really are in a miserable state, Mr. Verkade,” Wyatt scoffed, then silently added to himself, Like a stray

Only Gwain let out a cold laugh. “Hmph, why would I join forces when I can kill Emmanuel myself just fine?”

“Um…” The two guards behind Gautier looked visibly stunned.

Even Gautier himself hadn’t expected Gwain to become that arrogant after emerging from seclusion. Have you already forgotten how Emmanuel humiliated you before?

Before he could respond, a new voice rang out across the courtyard–melodic, yet laced with amusement.

“That’s right. All of Chanaea knows that the Southern Lannister and the Northern Wolf Warrior are equals. If you need help dealing with Emmanuel, then even if you kill him, it wouldn’t be a glorious victory.”

Everyone turned to look.

Chiara had arrived, accompanied by members of the Zelinsky family.

“Chiara!”

Gwain, who had shown Gautier nothing but disdain, actually gave his cousin some respect. Chiara was one of the Four Beauties of Zovince, after all. His tone softened as he asked, “What brings you back to the Lannister Estate?”

“I came to check on you after your seclusion,” Chiara replied with a knowing smile. “Now that I see you’ve been reborn, I can rest easy. It’s clear that taking on Emmanuel alone, avenging your brother–in–law, and honoring the fallen retainers of the Lannister family will be no problem for you.”

“Hmph, naturally!” Gwain’s pride swelled even further.

“Good. In three days, the battle at Divine Mountain will take place. I look forward to seeing you first defeat Yorick Dotson and restore the honor of Chanaea’s martial world. Then, you’ll kill Emmanuel Lowe and finally avenge our fallen loved ones.” Chiara’s gaze turned ice–cold as she spoke.

Though her proposed order of events didn’t align with Gwain’s priorities, with so many eyes on him, he had no choice but to nod in agreement.

Of course, Chiara’s true purpose in coming was to recruit Gwain to join the Zelinsky family’s plan to eliminate Emmanuel together. But now that she saw how inflated Gwain’s ego had become, she had to phrase things differently.

After all, if Gwain still couldn’t defeat Emmanuel when the time came, he would have to cooperate with the others.
