Chapter 2271 The Hidden Peerless Duo

Magnus ran into Gautier as he walked out of the study.

Magnus knew he came to him on purpose, thinking. The Chapel of Oros is vast, yet Gautier has somehow found his way here, alone. And from the direction he came, it’s obvious that he had been heading toward the study hall. He wouldn’t have sought out Ezra, which means this encounter is deliberate.

Gautier raised the two bottles of wine in his hands. “I brought this Sauvon Blanc all the way from the foot of the mountain. Care for a drink?”

Magnus adjusted his glasses and chuckled, “I was just thinking that tonight feels unbearably long. Let’s go.”

Soon after, they climbed to the summit of Divine Mountain.

The peak needed no embellishment. It was a natural altar and a vast stage.

An open platform stretched before them, flanked only by a solemn temple building that could accommodate thousands of spectators.

For now, the area was empty. Only a few friars bustled inside, preparing for the coming prayers.

Whether they would bless a peaceful nation or land on the brink of chaos was beyond their control. They only did what needed to be done.

“What happens here tomorrow will be recorded in history.”

Gautier sat on a stone bench beneath a towering tree and handed the bottle to Magnus.

Magnus took the bottle, clinking it against Gautier’s before taking a sip. “I turned thirty this year. You’re just two years younger than me. Right now, the world doesn’t belong to us yet.”

Gautier continued with a smile, “But I believe the next thirty years will be ours.”

“How’s that so?” Magnus chuckled.

“We have visions. We see beyond what others do.” Gautier tapped his chest. “We weren’t born into power, yet we will surpass those who were. People speak of the Southern Lannister and Northern Wolf Warrior as the legends of our era. But to me, the true peerless duo are us.”

Lifting his glass, Magnus said, “You flatter me too much!”

“If you say that, you insult me. You’re implying that I’m not worthy to stand beside you!” Gautier responded self–deprecatingly.

“No, that’s not what I meant!”

Magnus smiled and said, “You’ve inherited much of Teddy’s power. You’re a formidable figure among our generation. But me? I’m merely a puppet of the Zelinsky family.”

“Where do you get such confidence from?” Magnus questioned.

“Because my path mirrors yours!” Gautier smiled. “Teddy once tried to mold me, like how Ezra is shaping you now. If you obey, he’ll use you. But the moment you show independence, you become disposable.”

“You’re not wrong!”

“Which is why you must do what I did!” Gautier’s tone sharpened. “Strike first. Take him down. Only then can you truly inherit everything.”

“You’re right!” Magnus nodded. “When do y

Once you become the Mayor of Zovince, I’ll take control of the congress. You and I–one ruling in the shadows, one in the light. We will be untouchable.”

He didn’t need to say more. They were both men who understood power. Once they held it, they would shape the world as they pleased.

“So, how do we get rid of the man in the study?” Magnus whispered.

Gautier’s lips curled into a knowing smile. “Ezra has deep ties with the Chapel of Oros. He’s protected in the study, but beyond that, only Rudy remains by his side!”

Magnus had noticed that detail earlier, but he had never considered patricide. Not until now. First, Ezra is my father–even if he has never treated me as a son. Second, he isn’t easy to kill. He’s s ten–no, a hundred–times harder to eliminate than Maxwell.
