“Hey, what are you doing?” someone yelled.

Quintus blasted a hole in the wall and rushed out. Before he could go far, he was stopped by countless guns that were pointed at him.

“Really? You’re asking me that? Don’t you know what’s happening out there?” He scoffed, showing no signs of fear. Shouting at the men around him, he continued, “You probably know what’s happening on the outskirts, yet you aimed your guns at me instead of those who bring chaos to Chanaca! You’re supposed to protect the citizens!”

Stunned by his accusation, the officers exchanged unsure glances.

“What’s going on here?” Just then, Francis and his men arrived.

Once he understood the situation, he turned to Quintus, saying, “The Zovince Police Department is responsible for preserving Zovince’s order. We simply act according to the law.”

“Do you believe that?” Quintus cackled. “No, you aren’t. You’ve been fooled. I’ll have you know you’re considering rebelling against Chanaea. Ezra Zelinsky orchestrates today’s rebellion, and you’re acting as his lackeys!”

His words sent shivers down the others‘ spines.

Quintus had a point. The police’s sense of justice led them to the line of work.

However, they ultimately followed the mayor’s orders. They had no choice but to do as he said.

“It’s time to wake up!” Quintus grabbed Francis‘ collar.

Francis‘ subordinates immediately aimed their guns at Quintus.

They would fire their guns as soon as they heard Francis‘ order.

Quintus, however, was unwavering and continued to express his disappointment. “He’s plotting a coup d’état. If he wins, you might be promoted and live a wealthy life, but it’ll plunge the country into darkness, and people will suffer. People will see you as traitors, and you’ll live with a tainted reputation forever.”

Francis gritted his teeth and remained silent.

Quintus continued, “You’ll become the heroes of Chanaea who guard Zovince and its people if you grab your weapons and suppress the rebellion by my side. What Ezra does is attempt to overthrow the existing government. They’re altering the political structure with violence! Do you get what I mean, Captain Slyfield?”

Francis finally shoved Quintus away.

Everyone held their breath in anticipation. Finally, he announced his decision with a roar, “I won’t betray Chanaea! Police like us are responsible for protecting the people of Zovince!”

“That’s all I want to hear. Come, follow me!” Quintus grinned. “You have earned my respect.”

Everyone fell into silence. Then, they exchanged a look with their comrades.

After a while, someone shouted, “For the country and its people!”

Another person echoed the idea. Then, more and more people joined the chant.

Finally, everyone was shouting the same words.

“That’s admirable!” Laughing, Quintus patted Francis‘ shoulder. “Your resolution truly amazes me. From now on, you can see me as your friend! We’ll fight alongside each other. Now, let’s go!”

“Go ahead without me.” Francis didn’t budge.

“What’s wrong?” Quintus frowned. “Are you all talk and no action?”

“No! I want to convince more people to join us. I have connections in Zovince. What we have now is not enough to fight the rebels,” Francis replied firmly.

“All right. I’ll hold you to that.” Quintus patted Francis‘ shoulder encouragingly. Then, with a wave of his hand, he headed off to defend Zovince’s back gate.

Meanwhile, the Summertons‘ Army had breached the wall.

Although Albin was calm and sensible and had 2000 elite Wolf Warriors at his beck and call, they were outnumbered tenfold. They couldn’t hold on for long.

“Let’s go!” At that moment, a black–armored knight of the Summertons‘ Army shouted, leading his cavalry group through the breached wall on a warhorse.

“Captain Albin, we are running out of ammo. What should we do?” A Dark Night Islander reported to Albin through gritted teeth.

Albin watched the cavalry rapidly approach them. He understood that the Wolf Warriors had tried what they could to hold their enemies back.

However, the Summertons‘ Army also suffered great losses when breaking through the city walls. Moreover, they couldn’t just attack recklessly in the limited space anymore.

“We hold or die where we stand,” Albin announced solemnly. He was usually cool–headed, but he showed his fierce side today. “Let’s go! We’ll fight to the end!”

His determination was contagious, and his former Frost and Flame Alliance subordinates admired that trait of his.

Ever since becoming one of the Wolf Warriors, Albin had found where he belonged and strengthened his belief, and so had they.

They would do everything to defend Chanaea.

“Kill them!” Both sides shouted as they plunged into the melee.

It was a clash between martial arts and firearms. Some gunners were killed before they could fire, while some others were killed by friendly fire.

However, the Wolf Warriors were outnumbered. The black–armored commander was courageous. He faced the Wolf Warriors head–on and killed a dozen of them.

“Let’s see if you can take this!” Albin called out to attract his attention.

However, the armored man swiftly dodged Albin’s attack. Albin’s icy element clanked against the special armor and failed to harm the man.

“Die!” Not wanting to prolong the fight, the armored man seized the opportunity to draw his sword and strike Albin.

“Captain Albin!” The surrounding Wolf Warriors shricked in panic.

Without the captain, they would lose their direction and likely be defeated.

At that critical moment, a burly man jumped between the pair.

After ensuring Albin had retreated to the side, Quintus turned to his opponent and praised, “That’s impressive!”

He expected himself to throw a punch that could knock the sword out of the other man’s hand, but it failed. It was evident his opponent was a seasoned and experienced fighter.

When he rushed onto the battlefield, he witnessed the armored man dodge bullets while bringing down the enemies. He believed the other man must have honed his risk perception through years on the battlefield. Finding such a character in the Summertons‘ Army was a surprise.

The armored man wore a composite helmet, which revealed only his eyes. When he spotted Quintus, a hint of disbelief flashed across his eyes.

“Wolf Warriors, hold your ground! Reinforcements will arrive soon!” Quintus rallied the troops before facing his enemy, believing the commander of the Wolf Warrior Unit was responsible for playing his part.

With that, the Zovince police joined the battle.

The scene immediately boosted the Wolf Warriors‘ morale.

“Kill them! Don’t let a single rebel get in!” Albin shouted. He was ready to team up with Quintus to subdue the enemy leader.

To his surprise, Quintus rested a hand on his shoulder and stopped him with an excited smile. “Leave him to me. You can deal with the other enemies!”

Knowing him, Albin didn’t argue. Yet, he couldn’t help but remind him, “General Lenoir, be careful. That one is a strong opponent!”

“What’s the fun in fighting a weak?” Quintus smirked before leaping at his opponent. “Take this!”

A mixture of emotions surged within the armored man when he saw Quintus charge at him without wielding a weapon. Still, the man swung his sword toward Quintus despite his doubts.
