Chapter 275
Love at the Wrong Table
Chapter 275
Claudette had just witnessed Emmanuel and Mackenzieâs marital issues as
well. If they could maintain their relationship, why couldnât she do so too with
her marriage?
1
âYes, you are right. I canât be too selfâcentered either since I have to make
some changes for the sake of my family.â Roselynn knew that too. She had
only gotten married at thirty after continuously accumulating plenty of
relevant knowledge, but that knowledge still had to be practiced and tested
out in real life. What she had learned was just theoretical after all.
âYes, but you canât belittle yourself too much either. There are people
supporting you as well. If you ever get humiliated, our family and I will always
back you up!â Claudette reassured her.
Roselynn was not so scared anymore. Yeah, I have a brother who is good at
fighting. If they ever come to blows, I will never let the Oatleys gain the upper
hand!
It was the day of her wedding though, so it wasnât exactly appropriate to think
M
about fighting. I should just put that dangerous idea aside for now. Besides,
she firmly believed that she and Jaxton would never progress to where her
cousin and Abellyn were now.
Soon, Emmanuel and Alessandra led the Lowe family relatives into the room.
Hermannâs family is here too?
Alessandra had sent them an invitation to attend the banquet the day
before, but it wasnât clear if they had deliberately refused to show up for the
Lowe family and came today instead. The presence of her relatives might not
be as overwhelming as the day before, but Roselynn still felt more settled.
She didnât know what would happen in the future, but the Oatleys would
never dare humiliate her today!
âRoselynn, donât you think your elaborate gold necklace is a little incompatible
with your wedding dress?â
Alessandra couldnât help but comment on her daughterâs look. If even an
older person like her thought that way, then the other younger women like
Claudette would too. Roselynnâs clunky gold necklace definitely clashed with
her white wedding dress during the ceremony as well as the red gown she
would change into for the banquet.
3/5
âIt may not be compatible, but Jaxton bought it for me to show off.â Roselynn
wasnât flashing her wealth despite the fact she knew the Oatleys liked doing
so, but Jaxton and his family might not be happy if she didnât wear the
necklace.
âWhy donât you put mine on instead?â Claudette took off her diamond
necklace voluntarily. While the diamond centerpiece wasnât big, the
workmanship was detailed and so the necklace was definitely more valuable
than the clunky gold one.
A cold voice suddenly came from behind them. âChange into mine instead.
My necklace goes well with your wedding dress and suits your red gown
even better!â
Roselynn turned around in surprise to see that Mackenzie and Emmanuel
had entered the room.
She felt flattered that Mackenzie had voluntarily offered up her golden jade
phoenix. It wasnât because she knew Mackenzie had a higher social standing
compared to Claudette or even because she knew Mackenzieâs necklace
could fetch 200 million at auctions, but because Mackenzie gave off a sense
of class. Anyone who had been the target of her voluntary kindness would
feel the same as Roselynn right now.
âThatâs true. I think the golden jade phoenix fits the grand atmosphere of the
wedding better too. Thank you, Mackenzie!â Roselynn chose Mackenzieâs
necklace.
Mackenzie glanced at Claudette almost carelessly with a sense of victory,
while Claudette smiled slightly.
It seemed like only Emmanuel understood the subtle meaning in their looks,
but he chose to ignore it and quickly remarked to his sister, âRosie, you may
be marrying into the Oatley family, but you are still a Lowe. Tell me if you ever
need anything!â
âAlright, thatâs enough! Anyone who doesnât know better will assume you are
my older brother or my father!â joked Roselynn.
The atmosphere was warm and happy in Roselynnâs room but in contrast, all
wasnât exactly well in another room of the hotel.
